***Introducing 1-Day Listings***
Date: 10/15/03 Time: 06:48:37 PM PDT

We are pleased to introduce 1-Day Listings. In addition to the currently available 3, 5, 7, and 10 day durations, sellers will be able to list their items in auction format for a 1-day duration. To list a 1-Day Listing, sellers are required to have either a minimum feedback rating of 10 or be ID Verified.

The 1-Day Listing feature enables sellers to quickly sell more inventory of a single item, and sellers listing "perishable" items, like event tickets, will now be able to benefit from a faster auction format as well. Bidders enjoy speedy listing endings and access to more items. Finally, around the holidays, 1-Day Listings help both buyers and sellers make the most out of the last few days of the shopping season!

We hope that this new feature will help enhance your eBay buying and selling experience!

Regards,
eBay

I dunno, sounds kinda silly to me.... for an auction they already have the fixed priced and Buy it Now, so they really think 1 day auctions will work? Maybe on super high end items?

Near - for items with lots of listings a one day auction will get the item in the first couple pages immediately and speed up the sale. I don't see it being used much in collectibles catagories but can definately see the advantages with new consumer goods type items.

I will probably try some 1 day listings just to add variety and excitement to my offerings.

I will try it once or twice, too. Wish they would cut the fee's in half that would really make it a deal!

Bidz.com's three minute auctions are interesting to watch. Even in the wee hours of the morning.

This will be good for the people who have season tickets to football games and find out that they can't attend the next week. I think that happens a lot. Of course you can sell them to your "friends" but you won't get the money that you would on eBay and money is the name of the game. Example is Green Bay, as I can relate to them, season ticket holders had to pay an enormous seat tax in order to keep their season tickets so I would image they would like to make that up. There was a group of season ticket holders that had to pay $100,000.00 dollars seat tax. I don't know how many tickets they had. They borrowed the money and then to recoup their loss they sold programs and anything else to make up their loss. Yes Green Bay Fans are nuts when it comes to the Packers.

LOL Libra. Redskins fans are about the same even when the team is bad. There were so many lawsuits between siblings there fighting over their deceased parents season ticket rights that the Redskin organization finally banned passing of right in wills. Once the holder dies, their rights now go to the next person in line. Bronco fans seem to be a little more reasonable. They are rabid fans but I don't remember hearing too many crazy stories about them when I was there. Then there is the opposite end of the spectrum... the hapless Charges.

These guys just don't get the art of negotiation. Mainly that both sides are supposed to feel they are getting something. Telling the city that they must spend millions of dollard to build them a new stadium (when they can't sell out the current one) or they will leave just doesn't carry much weight when you are the worst team in the league. To make things worse... the city has to buy all of the unsold tickets to each game (including 60 that no longer even exist) which is costing us close to a million a game right now. As far as I'm cosidered the Chargers or the city need to start dropping off a few thousand ticket vouchers at Boys and Girls Clubs around the city. As long as we have to pay for the seats, someone should be enjoying them. Let families that would not nomally be able to afford an NFL game go and take advantage of them since no one else will.

Vegas has pickpockets and sucker bets.
This is Ebay's version of both.
The "reputable sellers" of Plasma TVs and Harleys from Romania & Indonesia will use this option to pick naive buyers pockets.

This is also Ebay's version of the sucker bet. You get 1/7th the play for the same amount of $$$ as a 7 day auction. (Footnote: Remember that 10 day auctions cost 10cents more because because you get 3 extra days. But 1 one day auctions cost the same because Ebay knows the amount of suckers in their 85 milliom pool.)

1 Day sounds good if you're not looking to make the most on your item.
