Bought this pottery at an estate sale and I need help on identifying it. There are 6 cups and the pitcher. The pitcher is glazed white on the inside and the cups are glazed turquoise. It reminds me of an oriental piece, but I'm stumped. It is pottery. Two of the cups have a small rim chip and the red of the pottery shows through. The outside is a mat brown. The pitcher stands 7-1/2" high and each cup is 3". Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Saki set, is my guess. And not very old, either, 1990's or thereabouts
I am beginning to hate opening these posts because I keep looking at these pictures and going "Oooh! I want that!"

I know it's older than 1990's. The woman's estate I got it from was a friend. Her children are in their mid 50's and they used these as children for breakfast juice. She was actually going to give the set to me a year or so ago along with some other things, but I wouldn't take it. I thought for sure her children would want it. I guess I was wrong. Should have taken it because I ended up having to buy it. I went to the estate sale mostly to lend moral support and there it was. I only spent $5 for it so I guess I practically got it for free anyway. However, I did take a 1940's lamp when she offered it. Now I just have to find the appropriate shade.

a nice story to go along with a nice set.
Lucky kids, to have such a beautiful cup to look into at breakfast time! It would start my day out right, for sure...
I still say it looks like a Saki set , the pitcher is just the right height.

Yes, I was thinking Saki as well. I suspected oriental in nature mainly due to the shape of the cups. I love the set and am debating keeping them. My boyfriend may kill me for doing so, though. I have sooooo much "stuff".

give him saki out of the set, and he won't mind anymore!
