Well the last time I Won!!!!!,,,,or lost, anything in Vegas I had to put money on the table. My money.

e bay is No Win,,,,,,e bay is I am willing to pay more for the product than the last buyer was willing to pay. They are WINNING nothing.......

And if they are (winning)then there better be some money on the table ready to take when the hand is OVER,,,,,,This I put nothing up and if I THINK I paid too much or the postage is to high or the handling fees are more than,,,,,,and on and on,,,,,,PUT UP or shut up buyers,,,,,,,

E bay is nothing but a swap meet spot to buy and sell.......you pay for the space to place your goods and people BUY what you have for sale. Or,,,,,,,,,,,,,they Don't......

WIN,,,,,,I hate to be the one to take the wind out of the sails but,,,,,,,Buyers,,MUST,,,,,,put money on the table,,,,,credit card'l do. You click those buttons,,,,,,,You pull that slot handle,,,,,,,you place yer bet,,,,you spin that wheel,,,,,,You BUY a stack of chips and THEN you bet...........

Buyers have Nothing,,,,,, to lose in this e bay,,,,,,,,,,, Swapmeet! just a WWW swapmeet.......A Venue,if you will.......a platform,,,,,,

When ebay imposes a,,,,,,,consiquece (sp) to the buyers, THEN,,,,,,, there is a WIN,,,,,,,because there WAS a Gamble........you placed yer money on the table (credit card)......Now,,let's see how many,,,,DEAD BEAT BUYERS,,,,Buy.

uuummm yeah nice thought... you can call it whatever you want, but CC companies work for their card holders, NOT YOU... they will allow charge backs (disputes) for their customers as long as they don't see abuse...

If you expect eBay to make buyers use Credit Cards.... keep dreaming Walt... that won't be happening anytime soon and I am willing to be more sellers don't want to use them, you talk about gambling... but don't take checks? Ok....

There is a process you can use for your auctions jack.. it is called preapproved bidders... but for some reason you expect every seller on eBay to jump inline to follow some of the "ideas" you post...

The day eBay requires bidders to use a credit card to bid, is the day eBay drops below, way below 5 million users...

Mandatory credit card billing on ebay will never happen. Ebay is an auction selling everything under the sun by millions of different sellers. It's ridiculous to even imagine that ebay would remotely consider the payment scheme.

If you see an infomercial on TV and call for the item and use your credit card or checking information that is one thing but buying a used tent on ebay from a guy with one feedback is quite another thing. The infomercials almost all seem to have a 90 money back guarantee and that must be to allow chargebacks or avoid the need for chargebacks.

I agree with Auction and twelvepole that it "ain't ever gonna happen".

But, Jack has a great idea if it would just work!

I can't buy anything else on the web or through a catalog without paying when I place the order. I can't call back the next day and tell them I decided I didn't want it.

Of course, I can spend my own money to return the item, insured and registered, and then watch them to see that 90 days later my account is credited. But, that usually isn't worth the hassle. Still, the option is there, and would probably have to be there if Ebay were to make payment automatic.

As much trouble as I have matching checks I get with notes like "postcard in California" as the only identifying information I would hate to have items coming back to me with no info and me figure out what I owed and Ebay taking the money back etc. etc. etc.

Edited to add:
Jack is also right about Ebay being a swap meet. You try getting that dollar back from a swap meet or flea market vendor! But then, they usually don't take cc either and that would be the only way for a payment to be automatic.

But, we can dream can't we? Wouldn't it be great to have the money there and waiting. That's what I love about Paypal but I am noticing less and less people are using it for some reason. Lately, only half my buyers are using it and it used to be 90%.

I agree with lindajean that more bidders seem to be using non-paypal payments.

But according to recent press releases the paypal is growing very fast

***
The number of listings rose 47 percent to 234.6 million during the quarter. The number of active PayPal accounts rose to 11.2 million from 6.3 million.
