Hi,

I just sold an item on Monday that went for $105.00. The emails that I sent to the winning bidder keep coming back to me as "unknown". I have check this bidder's feedback and they have not purchased anything since May-Aug 03 and have one recent negative feedback in May and several older ones.

Here's my question.... I have contacted the second highest bidder and she wants to purchase the items. But she is going to bid on a similar item on Friday. Her bid was only $2.00 less than that of the high bidder. I don't want to loose out on the sale. My auction states I must be contacted within 3 days of the auction and payment in 7.

Help.....
Lisa

Let's see,it's been less than a day or two and you gave up on the real bidder. Have you tried sending the end of sale notice through Ebay. Have you called the bidder ?
Looks like you are taking the shortest, most direct route to a negative without passing GO.

Stating "I must be contacted within 3 days of the auction and payment in 7." in your auctions does not achieve anything other than to scare off real bidders and attract the weirdos as you are obviously finding out first hand.

The winning bidder has had plenty of time to contact you and hasn't. Go with the second bidder and please turn in the bad email bidder for the rest of us that might get winning bids from him.

I will make a bet her email address has changed and she forgot to revise it in eBay. According to the time frame it has only been 3 days depending on when the auction when off. In my opinion 7 days for payment is hardly long enough because of the busy lives of people. I realize that buyers are my bread and butter and requiring payment in 7 days especially with a weekend in there is not long enough. My TOS says 10 days but I don't hold to that. I honestly think you need to give that buyer a little more time, but that is what I would do. I don't get to excited until it has been over a week but not for payment but for answering my WBN.

If the email is invalid, even sending it through ebays system will not work. I know, I tried it that way..... THEN contacted ebay on the invalid email, and I did that the second day after an EOA notice was sent.

The key point here is the e-mail address is bad. This is more common than you think, but with the buyers that care already know it is bad and will usually contact you within a day or two to let you know their new e-mail address. You should always wait 3 days though to allow the buyer with the bad e-mail address to contact you. Then go through the NPB FVF process and always NEG to warn other sellers of the problem so they don't prolong the problem either.

If it has been three days, sell it to the second bidder.

These email problems sometimes never get solved, so go for the other bidder.

OR, you can get their contact info from ebay and call them on the phone -- for free if you have a good cell phone plan.

Please let us know what you do.
