Anyone had any success with this?

Might be cool to list something Saturday night to end Sunday -- right there at the top of the list, etc.

It also gives theseller an option of changing the duration before the 12 hour mark as long as no bids are made. Start at 1 day and move to 3 days, etc. The weekend would make the most sense as to when to try the 1 day duration.

To bring that thought up to date,,,,,,Driving your car merrily along on a beautiful mountain drive and the BRAKES DON'T WORK!!!!!! I think you will find that there IS conclusive evidence that life IS serious! Especially when it's YOURS!

Haven't tried a one day listing yet but am tempted to. How else could you get your listing shown in new and ending soon both at the same time?

Vegas has sucker bets. Reserves,1 day auctions, featured category, subtitle, bold and picture services are a few of Ebay's versions.

I tend to agree with you on the Las Vegas "sucker" bets compared to eBay's Featured, picture service, etc. etc.

ON the other hand, we have found that the "GIFT" icon has brought in considerably more sales - it seems to attract attention to the listing at a reasonable price, which we just pre-calculate before pricing the item.

Personally, I think most of the “picture hosting services” are a major sucker bet. If your ISP doesn’t offer free web space, change ISP’s and find one which does, and you can host your own pictures.

IF that isn’t an option, you can get a ton of web space via FATCOW.COM, and use that for holding/hosting your photographs if you post a great deal on eBay. You can get your own web site on FATCOW for $99 a year, and host all the pictures you want. With a hosting site you can do away with listing services, picture hosting by a third party, etc. etc., and then use eBay’s Turbo-Lister for posting. Of course all of the above depends on the volume you do.

Regarding the topic of this thread, the one day listings, I haven't tried them as yet, might give them a whirl nearer xmas.

The One Day does NOT appear to be a sucker bet. There is no additional charge. As someone said you get the BONUS of being in the NEWLY LISTED and SOON TO END sections at the same time.

Most auctions I've had have had views at the beginning and at the end. The one day gets all those views together without the dead time of no traffic. Plus someone looks on the first day, they may forget to come back for day seven/ten/whatever.

I just listed three one-days last night. Two already have the reserve price met with under 10 hours to go.

I think, listing on the right day, the one-day is a good way to go. Quick return on investment.

Results...

Three items listed for ONE DAY...

Two sold, one did not.

One (a 1970s board game) sold for $63.00 (had reserve of $35)
One (a DVD game) sold for $21.00

The one that did not sell (a 1970s wargame), I relisted this morning for one day. It got three views and SOLD for the BIN price of $20.00.

All had MORE views than I got on other week-long auctions.

Definitely a good deal from my POV.

And you gamble that ebay will not have technical problems during your one day listing. Example - 14 hours since yesterday evening and still items do not appear in search by title and description. You could wind up with a 4 hr. auction on this one.

No sucker bet at all, just ask all the folks who submitted 1 day auctions for the last 18 hours. NONE are showing up in search.

The irony of the recent search glitch on ebay and the one day duration is that ebay was boasting of having reduced the indexing time to well below an hour at the ebay Live / Orlando. I can imagine that there are some tech VIPs that are in a bad situation over the glitch.

Thinking more about the 1 day listing, when eBay gets its Search Listings straightened up, I may try it.

I post niche items on a site where I can "post until sold," but I only list for 1 day, with repeating listing for 50 time, which keeps me in the top with listings, and it works quite well.

What day do you all think it would be best to try 1 day listings?

Going into the holiday season, I might be a bit leery of Saturday-Sunday because of so many parties, celebrations, etc., on Saturday night. What so you all think?

I gave it a shot at 8:00 a.m.....Nothing shows up. I'll stick to 3 dayers.
