When do you think the Christmas season starts on E-bay? I have read on here that many sellers save the good stuff for the Christmas season. Nov 1st???

Yep, me too. I had some toys I'd picked up on major clearance a few months ago. I put them up this week. All are doing nicely.

Question! If you have Christmas items like porcelain angels, books, etc., would you list them now or wait until Halloween is over? I guess I'm worried that Halloween is such a big deal these days for people that they'll be too wrapped up in it to shop for Christmas items. Am I wrong?

Roads, I am just now researching the same thing on ebay. Have some Christmas Ornaments, etc and it looks like they are getting a fair amount of bids(I am looking at snowmen right now) although just keying in "snowman" brings up 301 pages and after about the 7th page it dies off. Before I was looking at reindeer. So I guess it's to try and see, and if no go, wait awhile, right?

BTW, What is your favorite Christmas Character you like? I never knew I had a disposition toward snowmen until found myself going for them in the estate sale, garage sale boxes, etc. (Funny, huh?)

From last years sales I started selling Christmas Tree pins in September. I got terrific prices but as the time got closer to Christmas prices dropped dramatically. Same with the plastic ornaments from the 60's. Real high in September but very low in November. So get your Christmas items on early and you should do good. This is getting late for Christmas.

I work at a garden center and November 1 & 2 is Christmas Open House. Very early this year. Everyone is out to beat the next guy.

Last year the mall stores were dead in the water two weeks before Christmas. In years past that was the busy time but things have now shifted to early shopping.

I consulted with a bulk liquidation "expert" earlier this year about when I should put my mass of Christmas material on the market to be snapped up by retailers and boutique owners. I was thinking late September.

He said, no, early November is the soonest.

He was wrong. So much for experts.

Neroter: I'm biting the bullet and listing a misc. bunch of Xmas things Sunday night through 11/2. And crossing my fingers!

Since you asked: I don't have a favorite Christmas figure at all. I don't do a big deal for Christmas--just a tree (small now that we're retired) and a couple of items like candles plus a wreath at the door. Our family always had a big tree and a couple of things and that was that. Ditto for my husband's family. I guess we're carrying on the tradition. . . .

Sales reps now start pushing Christmas items when they come around in the Spring even though many of the items won't arrive until August.

Several years ago I decided to display Christmas items year-round in my shop as so many people collect things. I sell more during the year than right at Christmas because many people buy specialty items when they see them, either for themselves or for others.

I think they are overwhelmed with all the choices when the season finally arrives as items are everywhere.

I have some Hawaiian Christmas ornaments up right now. I started with 10 of each type, and some are sold out already - I need to put in another order. I started listing them in the middle of September.
