Does anyone know if there is a place on eBay where you can find out the total amount of income you've made so far this year? Thanks in advance for anyone's help!

you can take the ebay share of your sales and go from there.
it is your job to keep track of your sales.
soon you will want us to come over and cook your breakfast and make your bed

Go to My eBay Seller Account then click
Account Activity, View account status and there you can enter the dates of the months that you need. This is the only way I know what to do. I will check back because there must be an easier way.

Do what the IRS would do in an audit...identify the deposits in your account that come from eBay..Voila! There's your gross income!(assuming you don't deal with cash or cash in your eBay $ rather than deposit it)

Actually, Libra, she wants a total and you can't get sales totals from your Seller Account information...unless you dig out a calculator and add up all your sales yourself.

You can get fee totals from your account info, sort of, but that's not what she asked.

This has long been one of my major frustrations with eBay.

To get sales totals, you have to pay for Sales Manager or Sales Manager Pro.

It won't help you now, but if you start Jan 1 you will have the info for next year.

I keep a simple spreadsheet with columns for: Inventory # (so I can delete ads and photo's not needed anymore), very short item description, total paid for the item, shipping paid, paypal fee, what I paid. I also have a column for postage and Ebay fees, auction management fees, and misc. But these are only entered monthly for fees and when I return from Post office in lump sum for postage.

That way, I always know how much profit I made (you still have other deductions like mileage, computer supplies, etc) but this keeps track of the actual sales expenses and income.

I have a template for a monthly record and then keep separate spreadsheets for each month of the year. Total expenses and income are figured at bottom by the computer and I have everything I need.

It takes me a few minutes each mailing day, but not too long as a rule since I only ship about 30 packages at a time and only go to the mail a couple of times a week.

It would be different if I sold hundreds a week like others. Then, I would probably want to streamline it even more.

Well, I'm not sure we were that helpful since there isn't an easy way to do it. I tend to eschew methods that involve lots of manual data input.

It *ought* to be possible to save, say, a month's worth of activity from your Seller Account records in .csv (comma-separated values) format and just import that into Excel.

As a result of this discussion I signed up for a 30-day trial of Selling Manager and Seller's Assistant Pro.

Well, downloading SAP was a dumb thing to do.

If I'd been smart I would have checked out the discussion boards first. SAP is by all accounts the ripest smelliest rancid piece of steaming excrement going.

Installed the very very latest version (2.5.000), got
Error 429 ActiveX component can't create object.

I don't suppose anyone knows of a cure for this.

I tried using Sellers assistant Pro. I thought it would save me lots of time but for some reason my computer could not communicate with Ebay. It didn't work on my laptop either.

I spent several hours on live help and everyone tried everything they knew, but no way was the stupid thing going to acknowledge that I was a registered user.

They even manually entered it on the laptop somehow and said it would never need to be done again so I shouldn't have a problem. Well, I tried to change user id's (that's why I wanted it in the first place...it accepts all your user ID's) and up popped that message: Unable to communicate with Ebay to verify registered status.

I gave Up!

Edited to add they finally blamed it on my Norton software. But, even when I uninstalled Norton it still didn't work.

Are you saying that you don't record every single sale? Why do you think eBay can tell you this. I use an Excel spread sheet with a column for initial cost, selling price& ebay costs. I also have a spread sheet for shipping income & expenditures. I start a new one every month. I print out the previous month & then erase all of the figures. That way I don't have set up a whole new spread sheet. I don't know how long you have been selling on ebay, but its a little late in the year to start trying to figure all of this out.

Actually there is a great program that will give you the gross ebay sales that is accurate... www.vrane.com has a sales history. I love it. I have been selling for over 4 yrs and it is a fun program. Not really reliable for taxes since it doesn't break it down by actual item but has some interesting information like % you paid to ebay. Provides you with pie charts and all kinds of neat things to get the overall picture.

I've always been a little reluctant to post much about using ebud because people here seem not to be too happy with it, but I love it.

It's set up like a spreadsheet with all the pertinent data I need. Best of all though, it imports ebay fees for each item, saving me having to do that myself. I also like that filing NPB and FVF is a matter of clicking on the auction and making that selection. No jumping through hoops/filling in passwords 12 times on ebay. You can generate reports on any group of auctions you want to get totals for the big picture. I'm paying auctiva 19.95 a month for their services, but there's no per auction charge, so it works for me. It's worth it, to me. I think you can also get just ebud, not their poster, for a smaller fee.

Good grief I used e-bud years ago, stopped using it when I think there was a charge attached AFTER I had originally purchased it and was told there'd never be another charge.........the only company which has been honest on that one over the years is AuctionTammer - I paid for the program years ago, am still using it, get all the updates, and never a change since the original one....that is something one can't say about 99/9% of the auction related programs on the market.

I just really don't want to pay a fee for each auction I list, and that seems to be a common theme with a lot of the services. I'm already spread too thin as it is, and anything that saves me time is worth it to me. Not having to manually calculate fees is great...not to mention a ton of other handy things.

I guess since I didn't have it back when it was free, it doesn't bother me that they moved to a per month fee. A lot of people got mad at auctionwatch/vendio when they did that too.

But anyway, just mentioning what works for me.

If you are talking about downloading the info from Ebay I have no idea how.

What I did was download my archived files from Vendio and then export them to an MS Works spreadsheet. The download ended up as an xlr file. The columns categorize your auctions by date of start and stop, starting and ending bid, currency used, reserve, item title and #, marketplace, etc ad nauseum. It includes much more detail than you want or need to know. There are something like 40 categories of information.

You can then use the easy calculator tool to add the various cells or portions of columns you are interested in. Since I basically know nothing about spreadsheets I sort of bumbled through it. If you know your way around a spreadsheet it ought to be easy enough.
