I've always heard them called warming plates too. this one is really cute. The ones I have seen have always had missing paint, chips etc.

Warming porringer? Child's warming bowl? They were great to warm kids' food before the days of microwaves! By the time our kids came along, everything was plastic, but still very helpful on occasion until we got our first microwave. Then All of Life Changed.

well tom, I have been searching and searching some of my books for pewter markings, and can't find anything similar to your's Most of what I have found are for English pewter and not German...
It's a great warming plate! Good luck with it and the other one!
