I just discovered that an ebay seller has hijacked 2 of my vendio-hosted images and has been using them on his listings!

So now I have several extra charges on my Vendio statements for this fraudulent use.
HOW DO I PUT A STOP TO THIS??

I tried to delete the images from Vendio, but they stay in the recycle bin for 14 more days!

So I thought I'd fix the guy by changing the images to post a copyright/misappropriated notice on them, by uploading new images with the same name over the old ones. Upload claims it was successful, but it still shows the old images.

NOW WHAT???

Doesn't Vendio offer any protection against this (other than forcing me to pay a monthly charge??)

Doesn't Ebay have a policy against this? I couldn't find a way to report the guy.

Please help!

Are you sure it still shows the old images.

Did you try refreshing your browser.

If you delete the old picture and upload a new picture with the exact same name, it should not show the old picture if your browser is refreshed.

I hope this helps.

Did you clear your cache? Sometimes your computer still shows the other pics when you've uploaded new ones.

Yes, I'm sure it's still showing the old image. I deleted my cache.

After I uploaded the modified image (or thought I did), the image shown on the Vendio "upload successful" page was the OLD image.

It's possible the picture thief used your links at first and then saved the images to his own computer and hosted it somewhere on the net for use in his auctions.

You can tell if it's linked to your Vendio image by right clicking on it and checking properties.

If you verify that he is still linked to your Vendio account, go into the image hosting section and make absolutely sure that you deleted the old images and successfully uploaded the replacement images with the EXACT same filenames. These filenames are case sensitive, so pay particular attention to that detail. If the old images have been deleted, there is no way they can show up in his auction if he is still linked to your account. Once the new images show up, place a bid on the auction. This way he won't be able to revise it. You can retract the bid at any time if he doesn't cancel it.

I wonder if there has been a change in the way Vendio handles iamge hosting deletions? I manually deleted several files yesterday, and instead of being deleted, they were listed in my image recycle bin. I have been renewing all of my images because the images were disappearing from my store but these same files just won't go away! Maybe instead of deleting, the old files hang around?? Seems to me you should get an error when you tried to upload images with the same name though!

Neglus...I have three different computers(with different o/s and editing programs) that I upload images with. Each has a different method of recording filenames. One is all upper case, another is all lower case and the third capitalizes the first letter. With Vendio's new system of categorizing image filenames, it's possible for me to have 3 different pictures with the same filename in my account. I have a couple of instances where I have 2 different pics with the same filename.I have to be extremely careful if I want to substitute pictures and make sure I upload them from the same computer that I uploaded the originals from. That's the reason I suggested the OP double check to make sure the case properties are the same as the old pics.

Report it to Vendio, it has happened to me several times, and sometimes they will cancel the charges.

I've had this happen and it's very frustrating! Now, I put my eBay ID on EVERY photo and I haven't had any problems since.
Good luck!

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions.
I did finally manage to replace my images, they now sport a copyright notice with my ebay id. All the auctions (that I found) are already closed and were using a link to my image in Vendio, so now they show that he's using an image without permission.

I contacted the seller directly and told him to stop, you can imagine the friendly reply I got.

I also reported the guy to ebay, we'll see what happens.

Finally, I've reported it to Vendio and also applied for refund of the fees, again we'll see what happens.

Seems unfortunate that I should have to mark all my photos with my ebay id (or pay Vendio to do the same), I dislike looking at auctions like that. I always thought the sellers were paranoid.

Funny thing is, I wouldn't have even known, or cared, if he'd copied the images to his own site. Heck I'd probably be flattered that someone though my images were good enough to lift.

I just don't want to pay extra for someone else to use them!

Thanks again!
