Bleach will eventually turn the china/pottery to dust. I have had success with a strong solution of Oxygen 8 (as seen on TV-lol). It sometimes takes a week of soaking, but the results are excellent.

Try a mixture of peroxide and water - heat the oven to 200 or 250 and soak it in the oven in a larger container for awhile. It may take an hour or 3 or 4 depending on how dark it is. I think it's like 1/4 peroxide to 3/4 water.
good luck

Try Oxyclean. if that doesnt work, try bleach. I use oxyclean all the time.
One day I was scrubbing away with a bleach cleaner and it didnt do any good, then tried Peroxide. Nothing. Tried Oxyclean and it worked after a few minutes of soaking. So now I try oxyclean first, if that doesn't work I go for the bleach or peroxide. If one doesn't work, the the does. Don't know why.
