A cold, wet and windy weekend forced me indoors, and I spent my time on the computer shopping eBay. I found so many good things! And won too many! (Well, not really.) I buy multiples from sellers of my favorite collectibles, which is great when it comes to shipping fees and sorting when I receive them.
The problem is, they all come off at different times and notifying the sellers of my combined buys is a real sorting hassle. Some buyers have the items from one buyer sorted on the eBay check-out, (from ‘My eBay' wins page) which I use whenever possible. Others, however, do not have them combined. The result is a lot of e-mails back and forth, for both the seller and myself, trying to get the complete amount due. It HAS to be a major waste of time for the sellers. I know it is for me!
Question??? Is it possible for the seller, when listing, to plug-in a "sort for multiple buyer" option? Or does eBay do it automatically? If automatically, why are some sorted, and others not?
AND...PayPal notices seem to come from sellers who do NOT accept PayPal, or at least do not say so in their listings.
Now... The REAL questions is... is there a system that will sort these wins for me other than through PayPal?
Hope someone on this board is a frustrated buyer like me and can give me some advise on this subject. I don't mind terribly is a seller does not use PayPal, but at this point I'm just about resolved to bidding ONLY on PayPal sellers.
Thanks for any help you can give this 'buried-under-paperwork' and 'trying-to-get-my-sellers- paid in a timely fashion' buyer!
Pat
PS: What questions did I not ask — that I should have?????

Just email them the auction numbers you won and let them know you would like to combine shipping. "Please give me a total including shipping" should be fine.
I do it all the time in bead auctions and I have had no problem.
I don't know about automated multiple auction wins. Send the suggestion to ebay, maybe they will come up with something. But it would be easier to let the seller decide if and how to combine shipping.
I purchased from one seller that did not combine because of their policy, so be prepared to live by their rules.
Only other suggestion: ask if they combine shipping prior to bidding. Many folks put it in their listings.
Good luck!
Hope you tell all your friends to shop...

ps wanted to add: you don't have to pay all those auctions with the instant pay link. Just sign into paypal and pay via "goods non-auction" and then you can list the numbers in the body of the text.
I do this frequently because I hate the extra step paypal asks for if you choose ebay auction.

Thanks, J...
E-mailing is what I've been doing, and it has to be a burden on the seller to check/verify all those wins and prices. Just hoped there was an easier way to 'put it all together' -- for both buyer and seller.
Thanks for the tip on the "Instant Pay Link". Now THAT will be a BIG help! I've been using PP since their beginning, and hadn't thought of that simplified method of payment. WOW!

that's one of the reasons I love the Vendio post sale mgt. combining sales is so easy to do.
Life is only as good or bad as you make it.

I use Vendio's combined shipping also and tell all my winners in the WBN that I will combine for them.
Just a click or two and I'm done!!!

Ebay checkout now combines purchases..I don't recall that there is an option that the seller can turn off to prevent combining - but if there is, perhaps the seller doesn't want to use eBay checkout??

riffle and jewels:
Just wish there were a Vendio for buyers!
neglus:
For most purchases 'My eBay' and the eBay check-out work pretty well. Unfortunately, the sellers do not include the S&H (understandable, until they know my zip) and I 'assume' there is no way a seller can go in and up-date the info???
I also wish there were another line for 'extras' in the check-out, as some sellers apparently research my buying habits and will offer additional items for my collection (about 1 in 5 sellers seem to do this in my categories). Of course, that doesn't add anything to eBay's coffers, so I doubt there will ever be any 'additional purchases' slots for non-auction purchases. ;>
All said and done, I managed to sort through everything and everyone now has their funds. PHEW!!!
And... Lesson learned! Back to the old routine: no more than a few items daily...no matter how great the price or item!
Thanks, folks for your in-put. I've learned a lot here from the seller's perspective, and it certainly makes a wiser buyer of me.
Now, I have one suggestion for your sellers. Those e-mails coming in that don't relate in any way to the seller's ID are VERY confusing. If possible, I would suggest you seller's have the SAME e-mail address as your ID (if possible): seller ID "xyz" to be "[email protected]".
Does that make any sense to you folks? Sure would help on this end!

Sure, I'll be happy to do that.
Just as soon as bidders do, and right after that heavenly day when they only contact me using their eBay-registered address.
Blame eBay. They're the ones who decided that we could no longer have an email address as an eBay ID.
