I've been trying to revise a listing that has 2 days to go and bids on it, but the eBay system won't accept the changes. I was under the impression that I could add to the description if the item had bids but was not scheduled to go off within 12 hours. Am I wrong?

It's really important that I make these description changes.

eBay puts the decription at the end of the auction not in your description area (you have to scroll all the way to the bottom of your auction). Are you sure it's not there? From experience, very few people even read what you've added. They barely read the first part of the ad. If it's an error you made you could contact your high bidder. Wish I had more to give you. Best of luck.

If you list from Vendio, you should be able to go into the box that has the Vendio listing (with all the HTML), and add it there. I have done this before (with no bids) and it has added it to the text body. Unless they have changed something, this should work...

Hi Cheryl:

I've looked everywhere for the darned thing! It's just not there. When I click "submit changes" on the revision form, I get the message that there is either less than 12 hours remaining on this auction, or there are bids being made while I made the revisions. I've tried 5 times on two different occasions recently and no dice.

I've emailed all the current bidders with the necassary information. I guess that will have to do. It will not, however, cover my butt if someone snipes the auction...

nevermind on my suggestion - I am just on my first cup of coffee and just saw where you say the auction has bids - I need more coffee!

I'm not much help here either. I've had three cups of coffee, but am on so much cold and sinus medication that I'm delirious. If I sneeze one more time, I'll fly through my office wall and out into the yard!

Try rebooting your computer and try again.

Well, I thought you had solved the problem, gousainc, but still no go. I revised, hit submit...nothing! I don't get it. I've refeshed the page, deleted my temp files, rebooted, et al.

eBay problem?

This day is getting stranger by the minute! I just received Positive feedback from a bidder who not only took over a month to send payment, but ignored my TOS and sent a personal check. It bounced! I posted his well-deserved neg immediately. I may just forget the hassle of trying to collect on the bad check...the neg is worth the $26 he stiffed me for.

I just went in to see if I could revise an item with a bid on it.
This is the Quote from the revise your item site:

If your item has already received a bid/purchase (OR) ends within 12 hours, you can only:

Add to the item description or add a second category.
(Exception: If your listing already has a bid/purchase (AND) ends within 12 hours, you can't add to your description or add a second category)

Notice the words: AND / OR thats the answer to your problem!

Exactly my problem, dadofstickboy. This item does have bids, but it doesn't end until 8PM Eastern Time Sunday night. I've been trying to revise this listing since Thursday.

I've emailed all bidders, and I'm on the lookout for new bidders so I can email them the new information.

There was a time I could not revise at all unless I did this:

Go to the revise page, and revise.
Then clear the cache, then hit the submit button.

What version of IE are you running?
You may need to upgrade!

Hmmm...I recently downloaded a Microsoft IE6 patch. I wonder if that has anything to do with this.

When I downloaded 6.0 I was locked out of certian things.
Go to: tools, internet options, advanced, click on restore defaults.

See if that helps.
You may need to reboot.

This is an easy one.
You are trying to revise it. You cannot do that.

You must go throught the site map to "add to your description" You cannot do this from the auction page. Then the addition will show up at the bottom of the auction listing as the seller added this and the date and time you did it.
