National Public Radio's fundraising efforts on TV in recent years has featured a premium gift for certain size donations--Blenko glassware. You might log onto your local TV station's site and see if they have anything that looks like this.

Hi,

Paloma, the shape and thickness reminds me of one I sold a couple weeks ago. After MUCH Googling and searching on eBay, I decided it was possibly Viking.

Hope this helps...

thanks for the remind Roadsmith! I really appreciate it. In the beginning of my search, I took a look at RLane under ruby red. I just took another look under red glass bowl on RL and it worked. Found an exact match :
Fostoria Lafayette Ruby Glass Berry Bowl

Now for the other one. the closest I can get to that one is L E Smith Black Amethyst Glass and Greensburg/L. E. Smith Black Amethyst Glass - never heard of them before. Still not exact.

Thanks Lucy for trying. It seems I am getting closer. I saw the blenko shows on PBS many times. That's what got me hooked on blenko. I love 'em. Too bad they are so pricey. The ones I like anyway. I am beginning to think that the purple one isn't blenko due to the shape of the pontiff (I think that's what the bottom part is called) it is too perfect. Doesnt look it has been broken off of the mold or anything. Here is a foto of what the bottom looks like

Black amethyst glass looks blaack until held up to the the light - that's when the purple comes thru.

OK - you have now exhusted me entire range of glass knowledge.

Yes, doing research today was very enlightening. Try as hard as I could, the fotos still showed the glass as black until I really got it into the light. Black amethyst it is. Who made it or what style is a mystery. Guess I need to do more research on it. Not now, been doing it all day and I am tired. I also tried the Justglass.com site. no matter what category you choose to search, you still come up with the same items. Ineresting.

Thanks so much everyone for trying. I think I will be home from work again tomorrow. My kid is still sick with a very high fever. So, maybe I can search so more. Sorry if I sound stressed. I am. It has been a day and a half. Hugs to you all!!!

Sorry - but you made me laugh. It's a "pontil" -- "Pontif" is often used to desceibe the Pope.

Paloma - I'm not sure about the Black Amethyst tag. I just purchased some LE Smith Black Amethyst pieces and unless you hold them against light, the amethyst is not visable. Under normal lighting, they are an inky black. Do a search under Mt Pleasant Black Amethyst - you'll see what I mean.

I see what you mean. It looks very dark unless it is in the direct light but not black. HUMMMM Well, I guess I will put it in the mystery pile and go on. I can't figure it out. I have two more heavy glass things I am trying to research right now. I guess I will keep this "purple guy" on the back burner until I can figure it out. One out of two isnt bad. Atleast I was able to ID the red bowls.(I have a few of them) Should sell pretty well during the holidays.

Help! I just received this email

I don't know what pattern they are but these are not Fostoria 2440 Lafayette. I am an avid collector of this pattern.

Remember when I checked rubylane and found the exact bowl under Fostoria lafayette?!!! Well, I "thought" I had the right pattern for the red bow , I even searched ebay for Fostoria Lafayette and came with my bowl shape as well as one other. Am I wrong?

Here is a link with all sorts of fotos of the same bowl. Please tell me what you think. Thanks so much for your help
