Auction ends a week ago. Bidder doesn't answer numerous emails. 7th day comes, and I get this email:

"I sorry for the inconvience but my computer was shut down and needed
repaires and I was unable to access my account however, within in the short
time and I mean very short time I'vebeen buying on ebay I have already lost
money in a scam and one of the stuff I ordered came in so if want to send
the non-bider paying thing to the ebay but they sent me email saying I could
hold of on paying any body. I don't want you to take it personal but I work
hard for the money I don't have it to waste it. I need time to build
confidence in this system before I ever purchase anything else."

So I go look into his history and find that he has bid on 27 items over two weeks, the most recent being within a few minutes of emailing me this pathetic email.

Here is my reply:

"Hmmm. Seems odd to me that your computer wasn't working, yet you managed to
bid on 27 auctions over the last 2 weeks. You even bid on something today.
So, I see you have faith in the ebay system. I am guessing you are just
trying to get out of your commitment to paying for your item, but didn't
think I would be smart enough to figure you out.

Here is a little lesson on ebay. If you refuse to pay for your item, you
will receive a negative, but that isn't all you'll receive. You will also
receive a NPB warning, which will eventually lead to your suspension from
using ebay. This seems like something you wouldn't want to have happen,
considering all of the great deals you have seem to have found over the last
two weeks.

I would recommend paying for your commitment, because this is a binding
contract. If you didn't plan to pay for the item, you should have never of
bid on it. If payment isn't received within 24 hours, I will file the
necessary warning against you, just like anyone else you decide to screw
over. Don't blame a bad apple for something, and act like you have no faith
in the Ebay system, when in fact, it is obvious that you have been using it
anyhow."

I never file a NPB in 7 days. I will send a reminder in a week. Wait for another week send my next email and at that time start the NPB process and if nothing is heard in 10 days I file for FVF. I have never had anyone write an email like that to me though and if I did I don't know what my answer would be. Everyone has their way of doing things and that's what makes it interesting. Evidently he has tried this on other sellers and they let him off of the deal. I wish that on the box in the right upper corner of the feed back it would say how many FVF's have been issued against that person.

I try to avoid all contact with the bidder after the initial 'winning bidder email' I send immediately after the close of the auction. Ebay sends an email also so that makes two emails. The reminders they get are the NPB alert at 10 days and the final NPB action 10 days after that. I waste enough time on ebay without having to waste time on reluctant bidders.

What a crock. Auctiondoofus wastes more time posting in worthless chat rooms. He doesn't have any reluctant bidders. He has no bidders at all.

Well, this is how it has played out...

He emails me back telling me this:

"I received your email late and realized that your threatning me so i've come
up with a solution. Give me till December 2 and you will receive your
payment because I going to Naples, Florida on the 26th through the 1st for
the Thanksgiving Break because I do alot of traveling around this time and I
won't be in town to receive it if it comes in otherwise file the negative
biding thing and just go on because were there's a negative there's a
positive. Also on the 20th through the 22nd I was out of town and I just
got in so I could not hve bid on an item on the 21st and I diffinitely never
bid on 27 items in the last two weeks because i didn't do that in the last
thirty days but you had me going for a second however email me back and let
me know what you intend to do or what you've already done and we can take it
from there.

P.S. You're a really clever dude Randy!"

So, then I email him back and send him the list of the 27 auctions he had bid on just so he can remember those great deals he was bidding on.

His response:
"Well I told you when I'd purchase it and I intend to pay and if the option
is still there to pay otherwise just take the necessary steps you need to
take because I don't need another email telling me I'm a liar. Don't forget
you still need to keep it professional and professionals and/or adults don't
name call. Besides I ordered hats from one of the buyers from
universalsupplies_inc and paid in two weeks and they didn't complain its
nothing personal it's just how I do business.

Ps. If you intend to send the NPB based on this info. then don't email me
back. You already said enough. Thank you."

Of course, I had to waste a few more minutes on this transaction by telling him that adults and professionals keep to the terms of the transaction, and next time he should consider being an adult and pay for his item accordingly.

And so it went into the great NPB file to eventually get a FVF.

I try never to get into email debates with these pretzel-chokers -- just generates too much negative karma & kaka-poopoo!

I just send a reminder after 10 days & file on day 14 for NPB alert & 10 days later for fee-refund.

Once I learned to ignore the deadbeat-hosers, I grew 3 inches & beautiful women began to throw themselves at my feet...

...otoh, it mught be Ralphie's charm & charisma??

I agree with Tom/Ralphie. I think some seller enjoying corresponding with deadbeats and getting in their licks. The downside to that, other than a lot of wasted time, is that the buyer may be more prone to leave a negative feedback or worse.

Life is way too short to spend any of it arguing with idiots who are never going to see it your way. Pick your battles and you will probably live longer and definitely live happier and less stressed.

I find that with the initial winning bid notices from Vendio and ebay, 95% of bidders will send payment w/o any more contact if you wait 3 weeks.
