Let's keep this link to update our FP listings.

Share how your items are doing and how many you listed!!

I listed 337 items and have sold 5 as of midnight. Not bad since postcards usually don't do very well with FP listings. I already made my $33.70 in fees so now I just have to see if it turns out to be worth the day I spent copying old ads over to fixed price listings.

Anyone else want to share?

BOY AM I WIPED!!! I am not even sure how many I listed - I think around 600. 13 sales so far...also made up my listing fees already!
THis surely must have boosted eBay's listing numbers!

WOW Neglus!! What do you sell?
I am lucky to list about 15-20 each day.
I sell mostly clothes, so it takes forever to measure, photo, etc.
How do you do it????

I have a few vintage postcards.
Do you mind my asking what types sell best?

(snickering here, I know what I have ain't valuable!)

It's not easy to say what sells! I wish I had it all figured out and then I would just buy the selling cards and not have 600 cards to relist on 10 cent listing days!

I sell mostly "view" cards and leave the topical and greeting cards to the experts. Those cards can be quite valuable depending on the artist, publisher etc..or they can be lovely and not worth much at all. Currently Halloween cards, black americana and Santa cards are quite collectable. Those kinds of cards have to be in very good condition to bring the best prices.

Real Photo Post Cards (RPPC) of identified places (these are black and white photographs with postcard backs - and are usually one of a kind or a limited edition) bring some of the best prices.

I can tell you what DOESN'T sell in the view category (in general): Willamsburg VA, Smoky Mountains, White Mtns, general scenery cards; hard markets are Washington DC, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco. The Asheville postcard company in the Southeast must have produced WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many linens because most of their cards don't sell...ditto to Edward Mitchell on the west coast.

Sometimes I think it depends on the time of year. For some odd reason I sell a lot of church postcards during Lent, tacky motels in the summer and older New England cards in the fall. My husband says that the cards with water of any kind in the view consistently sell (I am not so sure about that theory)...

In other words, it's a crap shoot and you can burn a whole lot of listing fees. You might want to list your cards as a lot (some lots are bringing some very nice prices). You should look at lot sales in the postcard category to see how the ones bringing the best prices are listed if you decide to go that route.

Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge!
I wish I had some from my childhood- historical places, motels, World's Fair, and so on.
I may list some in the near future!

I agree with you..I would have to say that my favorite cards are the ones of my hometown in the 1950s (before I was born of course LOL..NOT).

Some people collect the weirdest things in postcards! Some people collect their last name (ie motels with their name in it)..I have one favorite Canadian buyer who collects hereford cattle! One lady collects pelicans, another canoes, Pepsi or Coke signs in the view, a man in China who collects Chinese restaurants..some collect the postmarks (RPO=Railroad Post Offices, DPO=Dead Post Offices, territorial cancels etc)..you just never know!

My sales count is up to 13 now as well. Overall, I am very happy because everything was relists of postcards that I had already listed on Ebay at least twice and that I was saving for FLD if we have one.

And, all but 1 paid as they went so money has been in Paypal before I even know it has sold

I listed about 100, took me about 12 hours, even though I had them already pictured and descriptions done. I list the old "slow" way. Variety of stuff, china, collectibles, craft items etc. 7 sold so far.

Now that I think about it, this was really nice of eBay! I generally don't like FP listings but, like Lindajean, I only listed items that were relists. Many were listed this summer when there weren't many lookers and so were not relisted in the 30 day period. Nice to have a chance to list them at 1/3 cost! It's also nice to have an unexpected source of cash so close to Christmas! My hands are finally getting uncurled from all that mouse clutching yesterday! Thanks eBay!

There must have been a lot of takers on the promotion as ebays listings number is at an all-time high of 13.7+ million listings.

The ebay listings charting site is back to normal.

I can agree with neglus on Halloween Cards. I just sold 6 of them and I think I made over $200.00. Not bad as they were in my collection and I bought them long ago. Little did I know what I bought for such little money could bring that sum. I bought some postcards this summer. I wanted the ones of New Orleans and had to buy them all or none but in there was a Real Post card of two girls sitting on a fake horse with the sign Central Park hanging around the horses neck. Now I know when I was little I had my picture taken with Santa and his fake reindeer, this was early 40's and this is a Real post card also so I am assuming that Central Park card is taken about the same time. I haven's listed any of them yet as they take time and I don't have any of that left. I don't envy the post card sellers.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! I was so burned out from the FP listing day I couldn't even sit in front of pc to list yesterday! 62 FP's sales so far. They probably will slow down now as the listings get buried in the thousands of newer listings - sure was fun yesterday though!

Libra congrats on the Halloween cards! I wish my husband would have picked up some of those when he started pc collecting 30 years ago!

Took me about 1/2 hour to fill out a McDonalds burger flipper application and worked for 11 1/2 hours.
I probably ended up the day with more in my pocket.

Lindajean....That was a quick revision.
If everyone here is making $$$$millions as you stated, then why are they wasting 12 hours listing 100 items just to save a measly $20 in listing fees. That works out to about $1.80 an hour at best.

I didn't read $$ millions in Linda's post horsey...or do burger flippers make millions for 12 hours work??

Let's see..I listed 600 items for a savings of $120..sold 70+ so far....don't know of a single burger flipper that makes that kind of money for 12 hours work..you working at the Beverly Hills Mickey D's or what?

It didn't take me 12 hours, alot of my ads where already done. Once my ads are done I can relist over and over. I can't make at job what I do on E-Bay and at the flea market. I have alot of my stuff is sold when the orders come in all I do is ship it back out.Same at the flea market alot of customers will come in to pick up what they ordered last week.

OK HORSEY,

You opened it back up.

For anyone who did not see my post before the editing:

I stated:
Congratulations on your new career (to horsey). and not sure how I worded the rest but went on to add that I was glad he had found something he was happy at and hoped he would promote the wonderful opportunities McDonalds offers to others so more sellers would bail from Ebay and join the ranks of those with the wonderful jobs at McDonalds.

Then, I went on to say I make more in 2 hours then he could make in 11 1/2 at Mc D's.

Not exactly saying people or myself were making millions on Ebay, but saying it was profitable.

Now, I deleted it because in the spirit of Thanksgiving I felt it was a little harsh and uncalled for. After all, if he is happy at McDonalds and feels it is a wise career move, who am I to question it.

But, since he has made a point to lie about my original post I will repost what I originally said, and still feel.

I posted 300+ ads and have made over $700 in the last 3 days so I am happy with sales and with what I did. Not bad for $30 in Ebay fees. And, that is only selling 25% of what I listed so I still have plenty of inventory left and ads already made to make even more.

If Horsey is happy with 11 1/2 hours of pay at McDonalds I want to congratulate him as well!

I hope everyone had a happy and safe Thanksgiving weekend.

I think I might go flip burgers for a while- It would feel like a HOLIDAY to just wait for someone else to tell me what to do. I am so sick of having to selfstart every day.
Maybe it's just the winter blues.

Postcards! They are so hard to get in my area. Everyone wants them. I drove 1 1/2 hours about a week ago to an auction that had lots of paper items from an estate. I previewed the auction the afternoon before. Then the day of the auction I drove back and again looked over all the flats and figured what I could pay. Then I spent hours trying to buy some of the glassware. They had 2 and sometimes 3 rings going on all day. I had to keep moving from ring to ring to try to keep tabs on everything. I knew some of the postcards would have been moved from box to box so a little before they got to the postcards, I went back over and started looking through some of the boxes I was interested in. One dealer kept blocking me so it was next to impossible to get to some of the flats. I barely got to look through the best flat. Then the dealer moved it out of sequence in the sale. I bid on it as high as I dared not knowing what was actually still in it. I found out afterward that while we were bidding on the glass he had been assembling two or three flats to his liking. ALL of the good cards were in these boxes. He had reduced the other ones to just STUFF. Another lady was upset also as she had gone and complained to one of the ringmen about his switching boxes, and they wouldn't do anything. It was a real fiasco. Another dealer was furious and was very vocal about it but the auctioneer just let it go. Don't people know this is the same as STEALING? If the consignor isn't getting the full value they would have if the boxes weren't tampered with, I feel it is stealing. Sorry about the venting! This happens too often. I think more people should speak up while it is happening.
