I was wondering what was HOT on ebay these days.

Ebay used to have a HOT ITEMS list, which showed everthing with more than 15 bids, but I can't find it. Did they quit putting that up, or is there nothing with more than 15 bids these days.

Gone are

Bennie Babies
Laser Pointers
Razor Scooters

What is it this year??

They still have the Hot List but is isn't broken down enough to be helpful as far as I'm concerned.

On home page click on "Community" then the "Talk" box on left then "Discussion Boards". Go to the bottom of the page for Hot Items.

Sorry I don't know how to do a link.

Geeze that really isn't too helpfull at all.
It's simply a vauge indication of the tital of items that are hot. I don't see any way to get to the specific item that drew lots of bids.

What I rememberd was a list of current auctions with lots of bids. You could then look at those specific auctions to see what that seller was doing to attract lots of bids.

If you offer the new $20 bills for $18, and pay for a featured listing, and keep shipping down to $1, and accept Paypal, and are willing to hold the buyer's hands through the whole process, you'll probably have a 50% sell-thru rate. Just be ready to put up with the inevitable deadbeats.

Sorry, I don't see what the value of this list is? First off, you have to go through hundreds of threads to get what you want. A waste of time to hunt and peck.

Ebay is like ten mall sites squeezed into one. Very crowded, not easily navigated. I think it's overrated, but that's my opin. I sincerely hope that don't decimate Half.com, which is a very manageable site now.

I'm getting a lot more sales from Amazon Marketplace than I am Half.com.

This is an example of what Ebay says is "hot" in the sporting goods catagory. Doesn't it pretty much encompass the whole catagory? Seems pretty useless to me.

I for one don't think ebay is over-rated. Ebay is a great outlet for all my junk (in my eyes). I have earned several thousand dollars over the last several years. However changes at the post office have hurt a bit making several items prohibitive to sell. The problem is that may individuals trying to make a living buy selling new items on ebay find it difficult. It is my understanding that ebay was originally intended as a great big online auction of generally used items. Their promotions have always indicated that you can get rid of those things around the house that you no longer need. In that situation there is no problem and ebay is great! There are few things I sell that someone does not want. Since they are no longer of use to me anything I get for them is great! Most of the time ebay will tell me what they are worth - I sometimes over-rate the value of my posessions.
Best of luck on ebay and happy Turkeyday!!
Prepare for the worst but hope for the best!! Spuddy98

Reply to Spuddy:

I differ with you. Ebay originally was for the "Collectibles" and "higher priced" antiques and hard to find articles, not a general overall garage sale. Only in the last few yrs has every little mom & pop individual been able to sell on Ebay, because Ebay is money hungry and seized the opportunity.

The REAL serious auctioneers, the ones with money go to bid4assets.com for real estate, antiques, cars, etc. You can't sell just any old thing on bid4assets as opposed to Ebay.

And I agree with that your assessment that the Hot list for Sports is useless.
