To those of you who claim bids are few and far between - rethink your opening bid!! More than likely you are selling something for too much. If it is a low priced item - leave it to Wal-Mart to sell it as shipping is usually prohibitive. The better gauge of your items is page views. Use your counters to see if there is interest in your item. If you don't get bids your item is probably over-priced regardless of your investment. Remember some things like electronics get outdate. Other items like collectable fluctuate with the economy. Remember to distinguish between collectable junk like beanie babies and quality collectables like a Tiffany Lamp!

Your opinionis are welcomed!!!

I was reading the sale fliers in today's paper---E machine for $197.00 struck me as a dead give-away. I feel sorry for any eBayers selling electronics.

Correct! After last christmas the lowest price on a DVD player I could find was just about $100. Last night I saw a TV ad for a DVD player for $29. What does that do for the poor slob that bought 15 DVD players @ $50 each thinking he'd make a killing on ebay only to find out that what he thought was an exclusive price to him was just a step on the downward slide due to new technology. The hot item is the recordable DVD player! Another example is I just got a DISH PVR reciever as a second receiver just by agreeing to a 2 year deal. I will be with dish for another two years anyhow so I see this as free. The retail price is over $300 but the catch is DISH knows that everyone wants the PVR's with two tuners so that you can record a program while you watch another.

Good luck!

Part of it may be having items starting too high, but most of the problems this past week has been due, I think, to people being out shopping instead of being home to bid on eBay. With that out of the way, they are starting to bid again. Yesterday & today my stuff has started getting bids...some have multiple bids. Four out of the five items I have closing this evening are selling. Same with tomorrow and next day (I generally put up 5 things a day, sometimes 10). I think there will be more bids as folks sitting at home waiting for the turkey to cook sit down and check out eBay.

Anyone with any knowledge of electronics knows and understands the trends. Last year, it was a lot cheaper than $100 for DVD players, I believe $50 and $60 was the going price. Now, it is $30. In order to survive in this business, you have to understand trends. Anyone who purchased $50 DVD's in quantity to sell at Christmas at a profit probably will lose their shirt, but a savy seller wouldn't have done such a thing. I also noticed the $200 emachine computer. I'm in the market for a portable dvd player, and have been waiting for this weekend to buy one. Lots of good ads for those...

most sellers do not have them in stock, they rely on dropshippers, and dropshippers sometimes rely on other dropshippers.
good way to piss off the buyer-if your dropshippers dont have the goods and you have accept paypal payment.

"most sellers do not have them in stock"

I think you are generalizing a bit too much there. I think the dropshippers are the exception, NOT the rule on eBay.

Some drop-shippers yes, MOST, no... Most of us are dealing with inventory of one kind or another.
