Just jumped over to PayDirect to see if any improvements have been made over the past year. To my surprise they look to be in good competition now with PayPal. They have redesigned their site and it is as user friendly as PayPal.

Anyone out there prefer it to PayPal? Anyone still using both services?

One feature they added is Website "buy" buttons comparible to PayPal.

The only down side I see at the moment is that Ebay pushes the PayPal at every opportunity on their auctions.

Still don't like putting my eggs all in one basket. I would like to spread the bucks around a little so that PayPal/Ebay payments don't become the only option in town. Once that happens we are subject to the "Monopoly" issues.

PayDirect always had one great feature that PayPal never did. You HAVE to accept or refuse any payment before the proces begins. If a buyer makes a payment less the s/h you can just hit refuse and type in a message about the s/h omission in the payment. I do not think there is a confirmed address thingie either as every address is confirmed. PayDirect is nice but no one ever uses it accept a handful of Yahoo sellers that buy stuff.

eBay didn't put PayPal where it is. If you remember back a couple years eBay was pushing BillPoint and it came in a distant second to PayPal. PayDirect is heavily marketed and intergrated on Yahoo auctions yet you'll find more sellers accepting PayPal than PayDirect on Yahoo auctions.
