Hi, I listed a Leinenkugel's Bock beer stein, the bottom reads limited edition 1/2000. Bock beer steins on their own are quite collectable. While doing my research for Leinenkugel's I was able to find their limited edition steins that read 234/1000, 346/2000, 74/1000. I did not see one for this particular stein. Seeing that I felt I had number 1 of a limited edition of 2000. I just received this email."Hi,
Take a reality check. You have one of the 2000 made, not number 1 (they were not numbered)." Mike. I did not like the tone of the email, and I may be reading into it wrong, I have a bid, and 4 people are watching it through my Bacon Buttie Watchscript.I want to do the right thing, and either write the bidder or cancel the auction.

Did you show the bottom of the Stein. And yes if that was the email it wasn't a very nice one. I have gotten emails about what I have put on but the emailer has been really nice. You can cancell the bid you have on there and revise your auction or email your buyer and talk with him about it. It might be such that the bidder knows exactly what it is and is fine with it.

Sorry I didn't look at your auction before I posted above. I think that reads that there were 2000 steins made and that is 1 of them not #1 because if it was #1 it would have said that. I would assume that there are 2000 steins out there and they all say the same thing.
Leinenkugels is a very good beer made in Wisconsin. Has a great taste. In my younger days I drank Leiny's bock.

thanks Libra, I was just looking to correct the link when yours came in, Yes I included a picture of the bottom of the stein showing clearly 1/2000. since I went back it is now up and there are 3 bids, and now 2 more people are watching it. I thought I might have been a little thin skinned but I am glad you agree with me on the tone of the email. If you remember last week a very nice ebayer wrote me on some mourning earrings that they suggested another category and I received quite a bit of help on this from the vendio readers and they ended middle of the week for $180.00. Usually any emails offering a tip or suggestion have always been set in a positive tone, this is my first.

I wouldn't worry too much. Add to your desciption. You've shown the bottom clearly. I've gotten emails like yours. I got one once that said "The ****** arrived broken. Do you have anything to say before I leave feedback?" I took that the wrong way. Turned out to be a great bidder who just didn't realize how her email sounded.
You could e-mail your bidders and cancel their bids, letting them know that you made a mistake and that you are going to revise your auction. Then you could send them a link to it afterwards. Good luck with it.

Libra, I forgot you live in Wisconsin,. do you suggest I end the auction, and relist, sending the bidders the new re-list item, or do you think I would be better off writing the bidders individually.

Thanks cheryl,& Kiara, I do not know how I missed the stein on the site you sent me. I have it bookmarked and I could swear I looked there. This guy may be right I may need a reality check lol. I will feel a lot better, now that there are more bids on ending the auction, relisting and sending the new auction to the bidders, with an explanation. Thanks again all.

You can add to the description once there are bids but you have to add it below the regular description through a special form.

Wow. A misrepresented Leinenkugel's Bock beer stein; does he think this will change the American way of life as we know it?
You could add to your description, but I would probably just ignore. I have received these types of messages from "experts" - rude, accusing, and usually from a hotmail account. Of course, they never bid on anything anyway, so you would not lose out if you don't respond.

Classic I heard of bacon buttie through Tom & Ralphie, he offers auction tools, I use his watchscript, tells you how many people are watching your item, sometimes it gives a false sense of hope one item had about 11 watchers, only 2 bids, another item had 3 watchers and 9 different bids but those scenarios happen rarely. It really is a good incentive to see, I was told before my time that many many sellers never like the watch this item feature, because buyers put it on their watch list and then nothing happened. He is now testing a couple of other auction tools and he asked for some vonlunteers which I have agreed to. I also use his generic counter for my me page. Here is his site: Bacon buttie auction tools page. http://www.baconbuttie.co.uk/ He relies solely on contributions, I sent him one, I love the service, if you also would like he sends a daily email about your items being watched and any updates.

I've gotten tips from 'experts' through the 'ask the seller' format and the info was bogus. In this case if the seller possibly alluded that it was #1 out of 2,000 produced instead merely one of 2,000 produced and clarifying remark should be added to the description. I know with numbered sports memoribilia a #1 would be much more than the other 1,999 limited edition items.
