I have about a dozen different family history/genealogy books acquired at an estate sale. (titles like...Joe Smith and his Kentucky Descendants) All are large hardbacks. Would Ebay be the best place to sell these? Do any of the genealogy websites take ads for these type of books? I don't mind paying a fee.

In my experience.....

if the title is specific like "John Smith and decendants", you'll do better elsewhere.

If the titles are more general like "Tidewater Families of Virginia" or "Business Directory of New York City, 1901", then eBay is likely the best venue..
.. if properly described.

I'd wait until after Christmas, though. The genealogists don't seem to be buying as much OR paying as much lately. This summer, however, I did quite well with this type of book.

Of course, I also buy this type of book, so please let us know when/where you list them.

The titles are specific. I've checked a few of the big genealogy sites like ancestry.com, but they don't have a place to sell books (or if they do I can't find it.) These books don't have an ISBN so can't use Amazon. I guess I'll list them on Ebay after the first of the year.

When you list them and use a title of Geneology of the State of Virginia, (just using that as an example) I think you should expect a lot of questions from sellers asking for key words to see if their ansestors are in the book. I know I ask questions when I see a certain area. Did you try looking up your books on Barnes and Noble out of print books so see if any are listed and what they are asking for them. I use that site quite often.

Did you try Google for the specific ones? I googled our family name once and found a genealogy site a man was working up. There may be a market through that venue.
