I think I have asked this question before but as usual I just can't remember.

I am going to list a German Book and I would like it to be on eBay Germany. Can this be done by just clicking I will sell internationally? I doubt if this book will do good in the USA as it is in German and signed by both the author and illustrator...Thanks in advance

Libra, I am not sure, but I think they have to be looking on Ebay, USA?? Maybe not.

I always wondered if Europeans are more interested in American collectables than Americans because they are harder to get over there? lol

Right I probably can because I can write the description in english and go to one of the sites and have it translated but how does eBay charge me? Do I have to register to list over there. I know this book will not do good in the US but in Germany it should do really good. I know that the italian buyers come often and bid on my jewelry and I have had a few other ones, but I suppose they come and search all the time. All I really need to post this book is the pictures I have and few words. The Title is in English and when I search eBay Germany there are a couple of those books on their already but not signed by the author and illustrator. Well, I will have to figure this out. Maybe there is a german trading assistant I can hire.

If you list the book on the US site but list it as something you will ship world wide then German users can see it but ONLY if they choose to search "Items Available Worldwide". Most foreign buyers do not search thru that option. If you want it to be visable to ALL Germany ebayers you need to list it directly from the eBay Germany site in which case you will also be listing it in their native currency (are they still marcs or euros now?)

If they are using Euros you might want to consider accepting PayPal as you can take payment in euros quite simply thru that method.

If you are not fluent in German and decide to use a translation program to describe the book, you should also include the text in english as well since the translation programs are often literal and can be off base. Also keep it pretty simplistic.

BTW - your account is charged in USD and no, you do not have to register seperately to that site.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

neglus,

If you list on the German eBay site, I would think you'd have to go through the whole process in German. It's probably similar to the American site, but you might want to wait until you get a German speaker so you don't end up paying for services you don't want (or don't get what you need). Also, internet language translation is pretty much of a joke. Just try to translate something German into English, and you'll see how off base it is (either that or incredibly funny!).

Putting the description in English as well as German is a great idea, and you might also want to put in big red letters that you prefer to correspond in English if possible since you have to get someone to translate for you.

Good luck!

Well dumb me I thought it was German but now I find out it was french. Here is the page on eBay france. Evidently this book was translated into many languages.

My book is Astrix Legionnaire. It is signed by both the author and illustrator and also in the book is a card from the Editor. 1967 is the date. I think the book is rare. The author has passed away and the illustrator is still living. The illustrator worked for disney before he did these books. I tried to convert Euros to the american dollar but when I go enter it into a converter they say it is wrong. Can someone convert the Eruos for me. 32,00 eur. Thanks.

I have sold on just normal e bay and sold many things to Germans and Japanese. I did nothing any different than any other auction EXCEPT,,,,,I list things I THINK other Countries may have an interest in at the TIME THEY are AWAKE. Pay attention to the TIME you list. When you are awake and listing,,,,THEY are Asleep...Sync. your watch to THEIR time. Figure out what time it is in Germany,When their awake. That's the real key to WW selling. Works for me.

Jack...You are so correct. I normally don't ship out of the U.S., but occasionally I list an item that is hot in Japan. That's where the vendio scheduler comes in handy. List that sucker at 2:30 a.m. and it will end in Japan at 7:30 pm. I downloaded a world time clock because you have to also keep track of what day it is there. Just be very careful that you don't schedule an auction to begin or end between 1 and 5 am PST on Friday when Ebay is down for maintenance.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.
