Hi,

I don't recognize Hume of California but I can offer this bit of help.

Your picture brings back memories.

In the early '60s, I helped my friend Julie with her home business. The things she and I made looked pretty much like your piece. They were made from ordinary glass bowls, jars, etc., she bought at a floral supply house.

We poured stones from resin (the grape lamp stuff), then glued them to the glass. The metallic decoration was done with Liquid Solder, which we decorated with gold Rub 'N Buff. After that we poured clear resin all over to seal in the stones and give a shiny finish. I'm not sure yours has that final coat of resin.

Sounds pretty simple but it wasn't... Took a lot of fiddling to get them right. Was also a darn smelly operation.

Julie sold them to Robinson's, a fairly upscale department in Southern California.

Hope this helps.

Lucy

Thanks Lucy ! Sounds like it would be a lot of hard work....The solder must have been extremely hard to get right...this does look like a ordinary glass bowl with mables glued in place.
