OK..now i have to vent. I feel like any communication with PS support is totally futile! For any who aspire to PS status for the supposed 24/7 support....DON"T BOTHER!!! Every time I ask a question they respond with an answer I already know and never address the real issue!! I love how they ask you to give feedback on their stupid system BEFORE you get an answer!! What can I say then? "Looks like my email didn't bounce back?"

Case in point. Today I tried to add some clarification to an auction that had a bid and more than 12 hours to run...I completed the form but when I clicked "SUBMIT" it went nowhere. I tried several different times and nada. So I write PS support and here is the answer i get:

"Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your concerns. I am
happy to assist you further.

To access the "Adding to Your Item Description" page, please click on
the "My eBay" link located in the Navigation Bar at the top of most eBay
pages. In my eBay, click on "Add to my item description" located under
"Selling-Related Links" in the "Selling" section.

Please be aware that although you can add new information to your
listing at any time, to make changes and edit the existing content of
your listing there must be at least twelve hours remaining in the
auction and there can be no bidders.

We thank you in advance for your cooperation, and wish you luck with
your future eBay transactions."

DUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I am increasingly of the opinion that there are no live humans (other than yourself, natch) involved in this process.

I think they have software that plucks keywords out of your email and responds with a boilerplate paragraph.

It would be simple to do. I could write a C shell script to do it, and I'm not much of a programmer.

I received a canned answer like that to a question I asked a couple of weeks ago. Without thinking I just sent a reply with "please read! Canned response no help" I left their re: line so it had the question # and code they use and they knew it was a second request for help.

I actually got a very helpful email back within a couple of hours.

At certain levels of PS, you have a contact and phone support..Have you received such info?

"I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on. I don't do these things to other people and I require the same from them."- John Wayne/The Shootist"(from the novel by Glendon Swarthout)

Pandora - oh YES i have the 24/7 email and phone support. The bigger joke is the phone support which is REALLY one big voice mail circle..if you are calling about x push 1, y push 2, z push 3, to repeat this message push 0...I don't want to talk to anyone about x,y, or z..my problem is with Q!!! Where's the button to talk to a HUMAN??? Once I THOUGHT i found the right combination but was put on hold so long and then disconnected....that is a bigger joke than the email!

I can honestly say, I have never had a problem with just calling the toll free number. They are very helpful. But one tip to keep in mind. When they tell you something, keep record of it and have them put it in an email and send it to you for proof. We had a situation when we changed the entire look of our auctions & called and got verification it all was ok to list, then months later, they started pulling them because of one simple small phrase. We couldn't prove it was approved so we had to redo them all again, which wasn't hard but extrememly annoying since the ding-dongs there approved it. The only problem I have is that one rule on ebay means on thing to one person and another to someone else working there. So, now when our questions concern a rule we ask for email verification at the end of the email and we make sure they know we are taking notes and keeping records of whom we talk to. Finally last month we bumped up a level and now have our own account manager so we talk to the same person each time.
But, calling has always been our choice as the email support is the WORST!
