This year, the USPS has done an AMAZING job for me and my shipments. Just wanted to extoll their virtues here.

Packages have shipped across country in 2 days (Georgia to Washington, California, Texas)... It's been great.

Had a package get from here to Holland in 3 Days!!!

From here to Australia in 4!

AMAZING!!!

Had many packages come to me just as fast.

WELL DONE!!!

Yep. They're doing real well this year. Just heard from a buyer that her item arrived today...I only mailed it yesterday--by Media Rate!!

Glad it is good for you....NOT for me..

I mailed a priority mail package 12-17-03 to go 200 miles across the state of Florida, east coast to west coast...as not shown up yet...
she always gets it the next day, some one I mail items to all the time...
Just my luck !!!!

I just remarked to my favorite postal clerk yesterday that I've never seen packages get there so fast--media mail in 1 - 2 days, even across country. He said they've added extra staff (which I thought they always did).

Last year our P.O. delivered: Priority & Express on Christmas day!

They had a couple drivers come in for those packages only.

You want to keep in mind the clerks behind the counter. This is the time of year that they face mile long lines of people who only mail packages once a year and have no clue as to what to do. Many don't know the difference between Priority Mail and pony express, and expect to ship a 15 pound package to aunt Martha for two 37 cent stamps and want next day delivery. These clerks have to walk them through the proceedures and even fill out the mailing label for them in many cases. It's only natural to find them in a less than pleasant mood when you bring in 10 packages at 4:30 in the afternoon. One of the threads that appeared on the Ebay outlook a few years back that I will never forget was when a seller posted her secret to keep those clerks from wanting to throttle customers at the end of the day. She went up to one of the windows with a mountain of packages to mail. The last one she handed the clerk was a box of fresh baked chocolate chip cookies for the people working the windows. Needless to say, they changed their attitude toward her and her large numbers of packages she shipped after that. Surprisingly, about three other posters in that thread revealed that they do the same thing at their Post Offices every Christmas. Some of you might want to try it. A great way to say Thanks for what they go through this time of year.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Let me add my thumbs up for the USPS and the clerks behind the counters! Priority Mail is extremely fast all year long, IMO, and this Christmas is no exception. The folks manning the counters at my local PO are the best around.

I have to agree. Mailed a media mail on on 12/12 and it got to New York on 12/15 the same day my priority box got to Florida. It was over a weekend that is why the Priority Box didn't get their in two days. I find that first class also arrives in two days. No complints here and none of course from my buyers. Now if sellers would just follow the rules with media mail maybe we can expect this all the time. I sure hope the USPS cracks down on the people using media mail for things other than books. I did have a package lost but am in the process of getting the insurance. I do commend my buyer for his patience.

Made my local clerks a plateful of chocolate chips cookies today! I'm delivering them tomorrow morning, along with my thanks for their help in keeping my customers happy with fast shipping.

Thanks, sparkz, for giving me the idea.

I have to admit, I was surprised too!
I got to the PO after the counter part was closed on 12/20 (a saturday, no less!), and had to hastily buy stamps out of the machine and stick them on my package, then just dumped it into the out of town pile. Even though I had attached a custom-printed combination mailing label & DC barcode to this First Class package the night before, I thought for sure having just a bunch of stamps stuck on there (which was actually a little over the correct postage) would slow it down.

Much to my surprise, this little package made its way from Indiana to New Mexico and was snugly tucked into my buyer's PO Box on the 23rd!

I thought that was great - I expected it to work much slower this time of year, figuring the combination of orange alert and a major holiday would not equal speed in any way, shape or form!
