anyone know what to do about constant, uninterrupting ALTAVISTA pop-up screens that are non-stop? I've tried all i know including looking at the registry to take out suspecting entries, running AD-AWARE.
This is making posting to Ebay difficult; anyone experience this / have an answer? thanks.

yeahwell, have you tried specifically blocking them from your privacy/cookie settings? Also spybot might take care of it.

get a browser that will let you block popups altogether, Internet Exploder is not necessary.

Quit using altavista as your search engine. Or get a simple pop-up blocker. Type in pop up blocker in a search and you will find many free blockers that will do just fine. I happen to use panicware's blocker. Nice thing about it is that I can turn it on and off when ever I need it.

I tried using a pop up stopper when I first heard about them. But they didn't work for me as I like to have more than one web page open and it wouldn't let me do that. But I haven't had any problems with the Google toolbar.

If you dont mind changing web browsers you can use opera web browser, it has a built in pop-up blocker that works great. It also has a built in ebay search that comes in very handy. I use it for almost everything and it works great. My favorite feature is the tabbed web browsing.

Opera rocks! It is the fastest browser, as they say. It has many features that make one think, "Why doesn't IE do that?" It makes IE look like a product created by soulless drones in colorless offices at a mega corporation.
The free Opera browser is available at opera.com, or you can buy the ad free version there for $39.
