Well, new one for me. I had an email this morning via Ebay "Question for Seller" and item number. Well when I opened it, it read: "F you and then the N word." I have a couple of items in Black Americana and this was one of them. I'm a little old white lady but still offended by use of F and N word. Do you just block the sender (on both email and ebay bidder list) or send it to someone at Ebay?

Beth, that is horrible! I would definitely send it to eBay and block the idiot! Some people!

Beth, do you really think the person that sent you this email, sent it with the name they use on ebay. I sincerely doubt that. I find even when people sometime send a legitimate ask this seller a question they do not use their ebay name.

Bay,

That is really sad. The hatred in this world is very disheartening.

I would put them on my block bidder list and report the email to Ebay.

Latte: When you use the Ebay "ask seller a question" don't you have to log in? Isn't it ebay that provides your id? Anyway, this email had not only the id (which I checked, they had sold in the past but were not selling now) but a return email. I blocked and deleted. I feel sorry for someone like that.
Very sad.

Yes you do have to log in. You did the right thing, Beth. No need to lower yourself to their level.

Hi Beth, Yes you do have to log in, but some people have a couple names on ebay some like to use one name strictly for selling and one name for buying, and some sellers who sell mainly in 2-3 categories may use a different names so they can keep track better. I just thought that if someone sent you something as tasteless as that they did not use their name that they buy or sell under, and maybe used a name that they keep to send a question, be vicious or maybe even shill with.

A lot of people have multiple user names on eBay, but they are all tied to one ISP address. If the email is sent through eBay, it can be cross-referenced for associated ISP addresses. The ISPs of all emails sent through eBay are logged, as well as the user name. An eBay rep explained this to me not even a month ago when I had problems with a nasty, nasty jerk emailing me through eBay. He said they can cross-reference the ISP from sign-in logs, and pull out all the eBay accounts linked to a particular ISP address in a matter of minutes.
