Can understand your frustration jack however till feebay does something about the game players you will just have to suck it up.
Their email to you makes me wonder just how old this person is. Sounds like a kid getting their jollies by screwing with peoples auctions.
By all means let ebay know and you might get lucky as far as your fees go.

Been through this craaaaaa,,,,before, I talked to powersellers during the week as the bidding increased,,,,they were kind enough to findout WHERE the CURRENT bidder was from,,,,,,Nice to know you can e mail them and 24hours later THEY will tell you WHERE your Loonie is geographically.....Well the ONE in California was out bid!!!!!!

As far as I know, there's no way someone just "loses" their Social Security. SS gives plenty of notice if anything's gonna happen. Maybe the guy lost it in a floating crap game.
Anyway, is there an eBay Powerseller person you know by name? Maybe the one who told you where the current bidder was?
Seems it would be simpler to deal with just one person. Maybe in your email let them know how happy you were they helped you before and could they please either reverse ALL the charges for the auction or let you know who to write to get that done.

Just an idea Jack..for an item that needs to be picked up, why don't you make people pre-qualify for the auction - They have to contact you first. That way, you can make sure they understand...

1000's of these transactions end up this way everyday.
Ebay must give the sellers a location. The buyers can see where the sellers are. OH NO!!!!! They can see Los Angeles!!!!! Oh MY GOD!!!! lock the doors!!!
