as one who busts his butt to provide good service and meet customers' expectations bad feedback gets my attention... i just sent this email to seller, slgarner512...
"b4 i am willing to bid, please explain your "private" feedback - it shows a minus two...thanks, sam." i was about to bid on his gibson guitar, when i noticed the feedback box...it shows "slgarner512,(private)." when i clicked on private, i got the box showing his rating as -2...which represents one NEG in the last month, and another in last six months...forgive me for sounding dumb..BUTTTTT, does that mean the seller has no other feedback? does this mean that the seller has chosen to not let anyone read the comments from the other party[ies]...and finally, if the seller does sell the guitar; and gets a positive out of the transaction, will his magic number become [-1]....as always, tanx a mil, and have a great one-a safe one!, sam

A Gibson guitar is a fairly high dollar item. I personally would not deal with anyone who hides their feedback, especially if the net is negative. I would think that if he did in fact have a Gibson, he would consign it to a seller who had a respectable reputation. There are red flags all over the place on this one.

1. Don't bid on this auction. It's likely a scam.

2. He is using a stock image photo
of the Gibson. He probably doesn't
even have one.

Keep your money.

read your replies - THANKS...i have been around for a few years; never plan on doing business with such a seller...what really is bad is that the seller has two bids on the guitar already - and in my estimation, they arent exactly experienced in buying- but that is my opinion...and, yeah, i sent the email, hoping i would get a reply---OKAY, CALL ME GUILTY OF JUST TRYING TO JERK HIS CHAIN...but i would really like to read the seller's explanation...i have run across a few sellers like this; and i have NEVER yet got a reply to my emails...and yes, i seem to have a lot to do, right?! and, i am still curious about: as the seller accumulates feedback, will just that net number show up, i.e., if seller gets a positive from a transaction, will the seller's -2, become a -1, etc...tanx a mil, sam

yep, his -2 will go to a -1 IF he recieves a pos FB. I'm suprised he hasn't purchased something just to make his numbers look good.

It will become a (-1). I recently had a bidder who was (-1), after they paid and I left a positive...they became a (0).

What really seems strange to me is that he is trying to sell under this tainted i.d. at all. It would be much better, and look more credible if he opened a new account and started off with 0 feedback. It's almost as if he is trying to scare off potential bidders. If you're selling coupons or recipes at .50 cents each, it wouldn't make much difference. But if you're trying to sell an item with a potential ending price of over a thousand dollars, you want to put your best foot forward and not alert potential bidders about questionable past dealings.

boy would I stay clear of him. How come his feedback numbers aren't next to his seller name when you enter him in the search. You can't find out his feedback unless you click his name. I will bet that the person that is bidding doesn't know his feedback rating.
Also checked he has been a member since Oct 2003 with no auctions showing so he probably has sold only 2 items which he received negatives for and this one. Maybe he has tried to sell this guitar before. Who knows.

Plus it looks like a stock photo-another bad sign. I wonder if the bidders bid without clicking on his feedback link. They might think he is a newbie with no feedback. Unless you click on the link you won't know he has 2 negs.

What a joke!

Then the buyer will send money and get nothing and wonder why!

It wouldn't surprise me if this seller
has (or had) multiple User IDs for
selling -- the other IDs are probably
so bad (feedback-wise) that he closed them himself or eBay closed them for him.

All he needed to do was to register
under a new User ID with a different
email address, credit card number
and home address. Easy to do, unfortunately.

Who knows. Maybe the "people" who
are "bidding" on this auction just happen to be the seller himself or people he's
in cahoots with in order to up the bidding or make the auction look legit. No
wonder you didn't get a reply.

Sellers with private feedback are to
be avoided at all costs. Ebay should
get rid of the whole "private feedback" thing.

Money Orders only is not a good sign.

And then there's the "Free Shipping"

The seller's feedback is no longer private. He must have changed it. Why, I don't know - it's still awful. There are too many warning signs here. I'd stay far away from this one.

After checking the auctions and didn't pay on those low items I definately would stay clear of him. Now he wants people to bid on his high end guitar.

Could he be a lurker in Vendio or maybe it was your email myoldtoy that changed his mind.

good evening Libra: i may be the lurker...just kidding!! when i came back from dinner, i had received the following email:..."Hi, I don not how I managed to have private there. The minus 2 is because I bid on 2 things before christmas and I won. However before I knew I won my computer crashed and was in being fixed. By the time I got my computer back it was to late and I received the minus 2."

started to send seller an email and tell him how to use the mail...when i had the worm virus; i used my nabor's email to notify 3 sellers of my plight...and they certainly appreciated being notified...

have a nice one, sam
