I had a bidder from the Netherlands purchase a large lot of magazine advertisements from me for $200.00 (Isn't Coca-Cola great?!?!) He sent his payment within a week, and sent me an e-mail with his shipping address. I sent out his package to The Netherlands via USPS airmail, and thought nothing else of it.

Well... yesterday morning, I received a phone call just as I was waking up. It was from a lady in The Netherlands who told me the package was delivered to her. Everything on the address was correct, except that the name of my bidder was not the owner of the PO box it was sent to. She gave me her e-mail address, and then asked me to contact my bidder for his correct address so that she could make sure he received it.

I was able to contact my bidder, who sheepishly admited that his box number was 272 instead of 271. (must have been a typo on his part). I sent this information off to the lady who contacted me, and she just sent me a reply saying that my bidder had just stopped by her office and picked up the package.

It just is extremely gratifying to see that someone would go to such lengths to help complete strangers. I did not have my phone number on the package, so she must have used one of those internet phone directories to locate my phone number. Then, she placed an International Phone call (about 3-5 minutes) to call me! (couldn't have been cheap!). It definately makes me feel better to know that people like this exist in our world. I just thought I'd share this experience with the rest of you!

yeah, eauction,

Funny how the good or honest things are now the extraordinary/surprising and the ugly is the expected and norm.

It's great to hear stories like that. I also sell internationally and I have no problems at all. In the future I might encounter one or so but it will not offset the good ones I have had.

I'd be inclined to send that lady a gift. Not sure what, though. Well, maybe a link to my current auctions and an offer of $$ off if she wins one. Or asking her what she's interested in or collects.

Roadsmith,

I already told her in an e-mail that if I could ever do anything to help her to let me know. She replied back pretty quickly asking if I knew of anyplace where she could buy a copy of "Little lord fauntleroy" starring Alec Guinness... since it isn't available in Holland. I did a quick search for her, and found some copies available on Amazon. Hopefully that will help her. If anyone else has any more suggestions for other places she can look for the video... let me know and I'll be glad to pass the information on to her!

Hi all,

Every once in a while something nice like this happens. Thanks for sharing.

Have you thought about buying it for her on Amazon? Seems like there are a lot listed, many for less than five bucks. Some say different art work, etc., but I bet you can find the exact one she wants.

That would make two nice experiences!
