Just received this e-mail from a buyer of 2 items in November. If all the European/UK buyers come close to this, I'll take the Int'l Bidders over some of the irresponsible bidders in the US who don't pay for their items in a reasonable timeframe.

Here's the e-mail that's worth a quick read:

I received these today am am very pleased
with both items but perplexed as to why
they should have taken take so long to
arrive - a full 7 weeks !!

I really thought Global Priority Shipping
would have been quicker! I see that you
dispatched on the same day I paid so that's
not the reason. I also see that the parcel
was sent by airmail and that the cost was
in fact slightly more than you quoted!

I would have no hesitation in buying from
you again but would choose surface shipping
if that were an option as it takes no more
than 1 week longer !!!!

I don't think its our Post Office at fault
as they date when it arrives in the country
and its delivered on a 48 hour service from
then. I also received an airmail parcel
from Australia the other day that took only
3 days!

I want to say only good things in my
feedback so I thought I'd write to you
separately about this.

Best Wishes

---- This was a box sent from PA to the UK.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? I had an item get to Portugal in just a few days - mailed in the same manner and about the same size. Is getting it to the UK the problem?

I think that one was a fluke Wayne. I haven't mailed to the UK lately, but the last time I did it arrived in the UK within 5 days. A recent package to Spain arrived in 5 days.

Someone in your local PO must have mislaid the package.

My problem has been the other way around. Bought a sweater Dec 28 from a seller in Canada. I finally received it yesterday!

Your buyer talks about global priority but in the email they state parcel, but you say box. Can you send a box global priority? Or was it a flat rate global priority envelope. That might be your problem. When I ship global priority to the UK it takes about a week sometimes less but nothing like 7 weeks. It was lost somewhere. In another thread they talk about international buyers and I have had no problems. (keeping fingers crossed)

Can you send a box global priority?

Boxes can be sent by Global Priority Variable Weight.

I agree with ltray Wayne - I think your package gotmiscatagorized as a surface pacge. Next time you are at the post office ask them for a booklet (some have the rolls also) of airmail stickers. Make sure you put one on all sides of the box (they are free, don't be stingy) That should avoid a repeat of the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. We'll definitely make sure we've got clear markings.

Actually, we use 2 different Post Offices near our home. One can get things to our buyers in record time and the other (the one this package left from) can be a problem. The difference can be a few days (domestic) going about the same distance.

We're pretty familiar with the shipping routes the USPS takes from here. I've found that you have to be more knowledgeable about someone's job than they are - just so you get the service you should. <sigh> There have been several occasions that I've educated a few local postal workers on regulations they weren't aware of. A quick look in the Domestic Mail Manual (DMM) and they thanked me for bringing it to their attention.

I do appreciate all the comments here and the suggestions made.

I've never had an International Package take that long. Could have gone surface by mistake, but that's very unlikely on a Global Priority package. Perhaps held up in customs. What was it that you sent? Some items are not allowed into the UK via Global Priority. They technically have to go by Parcel Post. Lucky for you that you had a very patient pleasant buyer.
