I'm going to sell a couple of Depression glass pieces on eBay for the estate of a woman at our church but know little about it. Any help, please, on identifying these would be greatly appreciated. They are really great pieces:

Wow those are beautiful pieces you have there! ... the first one looks like a Fenton rim, but I'm not sure .... the other is really awesome, and probably an old vaseline glass ... does it glow brightly under a black-light?

that's odd. or maybe not so odd.

on my laptop, when I read this post this morning, the second piece looks just sort of yellow.

on my desktop, the second piece looks vaseline vivid green!

might want to mention that when you write the auction. I don't think it's so much that my laptop doesn't show true color, but it's the reason why I haven't invested in a flat screen for my desktop computer. The difference is amazing in color!

The ice blue opalescent dish is lovely - but I can't tell if they are cherries or apples. Very pretty piece!

I've had other pieces like your yellow dish and I believe it is a Fenton Yellow Vaseline Glass Dish in the Buttons and Bows design.

Good luck with them both!

Oops, it is Fenton's Daisy and Button Design (or some do say Buttons & Bows - but should be Daisy & Button). I had a temporary brain hickup.

I know nothing about glass but I know a cherry when I see it

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

The blue 'vase' I'm pretty sure is vintage Fenton. I think the pattern is called 'Cherry Circles', tho' so far I am unable to find this particular piece in any of my books. The earliest mention of this pattern I have found is 1921. I think the color would be called Blue Opalescent.

Here's a link to show the pattern: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3656695000&category=29568

Still looking...

Here is the first mention about cherry circle. It is carnival glass but there is other chery patterns they talk about.

I believe the pattern on the second piece is called Buttons & Daisys.
It certainly looks like Vaseline glass to me too.

The fruit on the blue piece looks like tomatoes to me.

Both are beautiful.

Your first piece looks like Northwood's Opalescent Cherry. Is it marked on the bottom with an N?

The second piece looks like a pres-cut daisy and button vaseline piece but I do not know the manufacture.
