did you know that you can sell hearing aids on ebay now? somewhere in the internet thing, they (hearing aid dealers) determined it is not against the law to sell hearing aids online as long as you sign a disclaimer.

having said that, I sold a pair last week that didn't get pulled by ebay, so I guess it's true.

I have bought a pair of behind the ear hearing aids last year when the auction got pulled but I had saved the ebay page on my desktop and had the sellers ebay name. since he couldn't sell them on ebay, I got them for a very good price.

If you do wear hearing aids or know anyone that does, I can highly recommend http://www.buyershaven.com/ if you ever need hearing aid repair. I've used them twice and I am very happy with their quality of service.

when your hearing aid goes out of warranty I had been paying my hearing aid dealer at least $100.00 per repair. Buyers Haven does it for $54.00 (was $49.00 when I started using them) with a one year warranty.

why is this good news for selling on ebay? because some hearing aids can sell for $3,000. a pair and I've seen them before at yard sales and estate sales at give a way prices. Behind the ear (BTE) can be used by anybody that have their own ear molds like I do, and I can't afford $3,000 for a new pair. Even the molded in the ear models are high priced and you can have them remolded to fit your ears.

I won't tell you what my hearing aid dealer said or how he acted when I told him I could buy a pair of hearing aids online for $1,000 less than for what he was quoting me. Let's just say he was very very mad!

Everything Else/Health & Beauty/Medical, Special Needs/Hearing Aids

Although why you can't sell a TENS unit on Ebay is still beyond me.

Is anyone selling class on eBay? Ol' triple-zero (how apt) needs some desperately.

Glassgrl...I wish I had kept the email Ebay sent me when they pulled one of my auctions a little over a year ago. I had listed a neurostimulator in a category for medical devices. Basically, it is legal to list them, but you have to be an authorized dealer or distributor for FDA regulated devices to list in that category and include some very specific information in the listing. They told me I was free to relist it if I could comply with their requirements for that category. It's about the same thing as listing in the wine category. It's o.k. to do it if you know and can meet the requirements. I suspect they created that category for hearing aids that you mentioned above because they don't want to restrict them but at the same time, they don't want them listed in the restricted category as they would most likely not meet the wording requirements and would get pulled. I would imagine that is one category that is monitored closely by Ebay.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.
