Since EBAY is looking to add new options to the site how about one where the seller posts a value estimate and the prospective buyer MAKES AN OFFER-Sellers option to take it and complete the sale or not- Makes it more like the one on one transaction that a flea market offers-

Ummmm.... Isn't that what Ioffer is all about?

Lucy

P.S. The absolute LAST thing I need is peeps making offers on my stuff. JMHO

I agree with Lucy. One would have to be prepared to answer all the e-mails and after awhile it would be difficult to remain pleasant after getting lots of insulting offers.

All buyers would expect to get the items for lower than they are already getting them for, eroding the market even more. JMHO

Interesting idea, but sounds like a lot of extra emails flying back and forth. I have enough people trying to make offers in my shop, don't know if I want to deal with it on eBay too. But maybe there is a market for it.

Sounds exactly like ioffer. And ioffer bans any email or website contacts as all correspondence is posted on the offer page. Ebay would be forced to adopt that same method or have even more side deals occur where ebay only gets a listing fee.

I'd really like to see ioffer's financial records as a lot of transactions occur on that site.

I can't see Ebay making such a radical and untested addition to their site. They will keep a close eye on Ioffer's model and if it looks like a moneymaker, they will probably buy them out and absorb them into their site the way they did Half.com and Paypal.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I wouldn't call everything on ioffer junk. The 35 cent listing fees on ebay adds up fast and many items make only one run on ebay and then end up on sites like ioffer. Ebay isn't very seller-friendly to sellers of sub-$10 items with it's 35 cents 7 day listing fee and it's 55 cents 10 fee plus a FVF.
At ioffer there are no listing fees and there is no FVF on items under $5. If a seller is forced to park his inventory off ebay I think ioffer is a much better deal than a $10/month ebay store and nobody ever visits.

I think this is a great idea, too! I used to include wording in my auctions that folks ought to let me know what I should change the starting price to in order for them to bid. This would sort of go along that line of thinking.

No way in heck would I want that. I get too many "Will you take less?" questions as it is.

I don't want to haggle. If I wanted to haggle I'd set up at a real flea market.

Oh wait a minute, I *DO* set up at a flea market... But I hate haggling. Here's my price, take it or leave it!

This might be fun for a hobby seller, but I would not be interested in it. I already get tons of email offers already, I just ignore them...

This style of listings will ruin any market for sellers. It would turn Ebay into junk haven just like ioffer or the former bargain & haggle.
