Hello all,

Here is my question to you all. I am running a dutch auction and I know if a person places a bid for multiple units, and he is outbid on only one, then he is not repsonsible for the others. Is there a way to make a dutch auction so a bidder can only bid upon one item?

Here is the auction I am refering to.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=223&item=3591699862

Thanks in advance

This is the way dutch auction works.
if you want him to bid on one item at a time, you can list them separately

BTW, great item. I hope you get some serious cash for them.

ask your mother to bid on your auction, make it quantity=2.that way this guy will be pushed out of the picture.

Stop is right, that is the whole purpose of dutch auctions to be able to bid on more than one...

If you only want one per bidder, it is called a regular listing...

I realize this isn't pertinent to your question and I apologize for that, but I'd really like to know:

Aren't you afraid you're going to realize lower prices by selling them all at once?

What led to your selection of the Dutch auction format for these 4 items?

If you don't want to answer, that's fine, but I don't have a lot of experience with Dutch auctions so I was curious.

Thanks.

Extremely rare yet you have four of them? I had no idea that collectors may be willing to pay $585 for a die cast car.

Anyone that pays $585 for a diecast car is nuts in my book.

Read up on dutch auctions. If one bids higher on one, he still gets it at the highest common bid. the other guy gets 3 in your case. I do Dutch all the time. you take your chances. As for your Mother bidding on one. Ethics aside, she gets one in this scenerio, and the guy that had four, now gets 2 ect. If he wanted all four, let him bid higher, so that he can have all four.

This is false. When you place a bid for four items and get out bid on lets say one, then that makes the complete bid of four void. The rules ebay has set aside for dutch auctions is stupid, but yet quite clear. If you place a bid for four items, and you get out bid on one item, because 3 will not fulfill your bid, you are not responsible to purchase any.

Don't listen to the morons stop and doofus. Neither has a clue.
