Okay, y'all--this is a first for me. Sold a couple of esoteric Theosophy books ("the great I Am" to a buyer in Oregon. He paid immediately via paypal and included a $2 tip to thank me for selling the books. My inclination is to accept the tip graciously; of course I'd refund the $2 if he'd made an error. Would you do the same thing in this situation?

Reminds me of a time 35 years ago when I was young and pretty cute. I was in the produce section of our supermarket in Las Vegas --and dressed like a young mother, not sluttish, mind you--and this man, wheeling a cart past me, near the onions, said without stopping, "Hey girl, I'll give you $2." Holy cow. Do you suppose this $2 tip is just some sort of weird karma coming back around???? Good karma because I didn't slug him or revile him???

I'm still giggling over this tip.

I would invest it in a bottle of 2 buck chuck and ponder the situation further.

Oh, (smacking forehead)! Why didn't I think of that? Perfect use for $2.

I've had people pay me extra for my time. I had one pay me double. I refunded the overpayment, but it sat for the alloted amount of time in my PayPal account (did it twice) so I figured she must not want the money.

Next morning and I'm still giggling over this. My husband says to tell all of you that my price hasn't gone up in 35 years. . . .

Roadsmith, you must have sold something hard to find at a reasonable price. 0 Maybe they are a ebay seller as well? In any case, nice to be appreciated instead of slammed every once in a while, eh?

I just sold a piece that while not htf, you dont see around that much. Sold it pretty cheap with a BIN, stupid but needed some quick disposable cash. Anyway, I shipped it out right away. So you think the buyer would even bother to leave FB so I can build up my numbers? Nope. &*&%$# ingrate.
lol.

Neroter: I suppose it was hard to find--two books on "the great I Am." It was yet another case of debating whether to even list them on Ebay but I decided to. Didn't bring more than about $14, but I got them for 50 cents each.

Roadsmith, maybe he was trying to cover your Paypal fees without really saying it, especially since he got such a bargain from you.

You mentioned Las Vegas, so...

Many years ago I was playing blackjack at the Silver Slipper (which probably isn't even there any more) when a drunk stumbled up to the table and sat down. He eyed my bet (two $5 chips) and added three more fives to my stack.

So I'm sitting there wondering, What is the etiquette of this? If I lose this hand, it's simple. Money gone. But if I win, do I give him 3/5ths of the winnings? How about his original addendum of three chips? Do I give that back, too?

I won, and kept it all. I figured if he said something I'd give some back. But he didn't, just kept cheering on my play.

Yeah, it feels weird when someone tosses in money out of the blue.

how was he allowed to get away with that? Didn't the dealer say anything? They tend to come down hard on folks who touch other people's money in Vegas.

Dealer didn't say jack. The drunk didn't actually touch my chips, just put more next to mine.

Or maybe he recognized the guy. The Silver Slipper was one of those small casinos that had regulars. Closed in 1988, according to the Web.
