How long does it take to ship a Media Mail package from the Midwest to Alaska and Hawaii?
All I get from the USPS site is the following:
"Unable to determine."
Thanks in advance.

Allow at least 2 weeks. Media Mail & Parcel Post are sent when there is room for them on a truck or plane.

Sometimes takes more than two weeks when shipping Media rate to Hawaii--I had one package take almost a month...

Hawaii is REALLY slow - I am in the Pacific Northwest, so going to Alaska isn't too bad from here. It is actually zone 7 for priority mail, while New York is zone 8. Hawaii though, I strongly encourage my Hawaiian customers to upgrade to a different class of mail.

I'd count on maybe 3 weeks to Hawaii; Alaska has been faster for me. I think things go on a boat to Hawaii. . . .

I can only speak as to mailing from Alaska. It goes out on a barge on either Monday or Fridays from Anchorage. The barge to Seattle takes about a week to arrive. At Seattle it gets on a truck or train. Media mail usually takes 3 or 4 weeks depending where it's going. I always tell my buyers to expect 3 weeks. I've been surprised with a 2 week delivery many times however.
The trouble with Italian food is that your hungry again in two or three days.

I know from Minnesota to Hawaii using Media Mail, it will take 6 weeks to be delivered. I have done it a handful of times for customers that requested it (for books only). I usually don't offer that option for Hawaii or Alaska though because of the time frame.

My time is the same as Stonecold. If it's a single video I'll upgrade them to first class. I've had many items take 8 weeks to Hawaii - same with Alaska. And I've had items become lost more often (even with delivery confirmation). The longer it's in the hands of the post office the more likely it is to get lost.
edited to add that I'm in Wisconsin.

It takes 6-8 weeks for media mail to be delivered to Hawaii. I found this out the hard way. From now on I'll just cough up a few extra dollars and use priority mail to Hawaii.

Hello-I have sent many (70+) media packages to Hawaii over the last several years. (It used to be called book rate) It usually takes about 30 days from the east coast although I may hold the world's record (100 days)Media rate goes by boat from the West coast to Honolulu. If it's going to an outer island it then moves by ship to that island, adding who knows how much longer.
