Hi. I am sure all of you smart people can help with this question. My sister has a book that sells in England for a lot more than here. Is there a way to list on UK E-bay and how do you do the money conversion?

Just list it on the UK site and ask for U.S, dollars. Mind you pound sterling is worth more.

This is a good converter.

Go to the ebay UK site directly and list. VERY IMPORTANT!! You MUST put your country as United Kingdom. You can put your actual location in the manual entry box but you MUST use United Kingdom in the pull down box in order for the item to show up in UK based default searches.

In terms of payment - you can take payment via PayPal in GBP - their conversion rate today was a little over 1.75 - very fair. You can either open a GBP balance in your PayPal account or if you decide to leave it in USD you will get a notice from PayPal letting you know about the payment, you just have to go in and do the conversion in order to accept it.

If you are not going to accept PayPal be sure to state that payment needs to be in USD and VERY IMPORTANT! State in the clearest terms possible that you do not accept Postal Orders. These cannot be cashed in the US, or if you have a bank that will cash them, they charge outrageous fees (I pay nothing to cash a UK cheque or bank draft but a postal order would cost me $17.00 each). You have to make sure to state this in very clear terms because ebay.uk uses Postal Order as a default like our Money Orders.

Have fun with your listing - also be sure to keep the time differences in effect. Our evening is their middle of the night but if you are listing direct to the site and use their scheduler that won''t be an issue since it runs on their local time.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?
