start button, all programs, up at the top is Windows Update.

http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

I'm thinking this is the problem. If you don't have all your IE up to date then there could be a conflict. Good place to start anyway..........

You amaze me, you know so much about computers.

I know absolutely nothing. I hardly ever ask questions because I don't even understand the answers!

well McJane, I guess you would have had to of reloaded XP a couple of times So I learned by 'doing' you might say.

However we haven't heard back from micmic so I guess the jury is still out. maybe they are busy listing auctions now.

I do know if you reload your OS that you won't get very far doing anything unless you do the IE & MS updates.....so it just seemed like the logical place to start.

I'm not afraid to push any buttons so sooner or later I get the results I want...one way or another. Even if you crash the whole thing there's always Format. That's the nicest thing about XP though, you can usually just roll back to an earlier time without having to do the whole format & recover like I used to do on my HP desktop. Now I have XP on it too although I had to reload it 4 times before I finally got it right.

I have XP & had to reload once, too much junk & it was running slow so my son did it, not me.

Now as for OS, IE, MS, I have no idea what they are, but will take a crack at one, is IE
internet explorer.
When people speak of IE & NS browsers I have no idea what they are talking about. I don't even know what a browser is!

My first computer was a brand new Compact 286 so it seems like I've been around them forever, but still know nothing. Never really had to either, nothing ever seems to go wrong. At least they have always started up when turned on. That's enough for me.
