WOW! my auction views (according to Auction Tracker) just plummeted when tonight's episode of "Survivor" began on the East coast and Midwest!

What's a "Survivor"?
Is that something on network TV?

Fluffy,
Like you didn't know... It's a dopey reality TV show.
My niece (who lives in a rented room and doesn't have a big TV) "visits" my mother (who DOES have a big TV) and watches every Thursday evening.
At first Heidi (niece) tried to con Mom into providing dinner. Thankfully Mom decided she wasn't about to do that...
I've never watched Survivor myself and don't intend to.
This wasn't actually a response to Fluffy's post, JMHO of reality TV in general and people who watch it, including my niece.

I really don't know. Our viewing habits consist mainly of Law & Order and whatever HBO series is least offensive. (Rules out a lot of them.)
I'm not even sure what "reality TV" is. The term makes no sense to me. How can it be "reality" if it's manufactured for TV? Even live news footage isn't necessarily reality.

I'm with you, Fluffy. Law and Order is about it.
I agree, how can it be "reality" if a bunch of people are supposedly surviving on a deserted island or whatever if there's a film crew handy to tape the show. ???
Edited to add: Come to think of it, wasn't there a Law and Order episode that dealt with a young man getting tossed off a rooftop while involved in a reality show?

Neglus - do you think it was Survivor viewers on the east coast or..... second to the last episode of Friends in the midwest? Next Thursday night is going to see a big hit - Final episode.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

I'm all for Law & Order but how can you omit West Wing? I am the most ridiculous adict on that one watching three episodes a day on Bravo, the Wednesday episode on NBC and.. oh yeah... episodes on DVD when there is nothing on during the middle of the night.
Lucy - Yep - sure was : )

I've never seen West Wing.
We don't get that many satellite channels...and no broadcast TV at all.
So if it isn't on TNT, USA or HBO, chances are I won't see it.

Fluffy - I order you to see West Wing ! Remind me in a week.. The last episode in syndication aired this morning so I'll start recording them again from the beginning (now that I can edit commercials out) I'll send you a DVD. It's intelligent, it's thought provoking, it's funny, and for paart of one season had three of my all time fav actors at the same time - Martin Sheen, Stockard Channing & Oliver Platt.

I've never seen survivor, law and order or west wing. But I am hooked on "the Practice"
Love James Spader's character - only two episodes left. What will I do when it's over? Oh, I know I'll have an extra hour to work on Ebay auctions!

Reality TV is an oxymoron. I agree with Fluffy on that. Every one of the so called "reality" shows are terminally boring in my opinion.
My husband and I are also addicted to all the Law & Order series and several other genre as well. You could guess that from the fact that we are "out of control" collectors in a number of areas. Obviously addictive personalities! Good thing we have no interest in drugs. We also watch all the CSI and derivative series. Just heard there will be a CSI New York next year. Oh no. Also any science fiction series, Stargate, Andromida, Enterprise. Oh yes, any show dealing with antiques. We just got a a new flat screen TV, satellite service, and a Tivo. My husband who is addicted to gadgets thinks it is heaven.
Fenix, I am not sure Fluffy would be a big West Wing fan. I think you are more likely to obsess about it if you are a Democrat and (no offense intended if I am wrong) remembering some of her tag lines I don't think so.

I've never even watched left wing. What a nightmare a lefty libb running the country.
If my niece lived in a rented room I'd want her to have dinner with Mom every Thursday but then I'm a mean spirited right winger.

I think that ratings proved that you don't neccessarily need to be liberal to enjoy the show. Also, Bartlett was a conservative democratic as they go. The brilliance of the show however is not the slant of the politics, it is the fact that it makes you look at issues from both sides of the coin (there is always an opposing view arguement offered), gives you a little insight into why our government is so flawed (politics often having more importance than actual worthiness of a position) and it's caustic sarcastic humor which I definitely think Fluffy would enjoy.

Law and Order, here too! Also, CSI. Those are about the only shows I regularly watch. Occasionally I'll watch Crossing Jordan.
