I have bought severals boxes of LP record Boxed sets from the 60's a few are from the 50's and a lot of LP single albums. I can't find any of this stuff on E-Bay. Some of it is Classical, some Big Band, some jazz and even a record you play to plants. The records came for an Estate sale. Where do you post auctions for Classical and Big Band LP's? I have no idea where this stuff goes as far as a catagory. Some of the sets are Readers Digest.

Speaking or LPs, I just bought an old Beatles vinyl record for 50 cents at a garage sale yesterday (very happy about that!), but I am curious how you know if it is a first edition or if it is worth anything.

Thanks.

I can tell you from sad experience that classical records rarely sell at all. And Reader's Digest sets hardly ever. I would donate them right away to a thrift shop and take an honest value on them for tax purposes.

Did you look at categories in Music/LPs? I believe there are subcategories there.

I am opening an Ebay store to stash my Readers Digest Boxed sets in at $5.00 each and will probably go lower after Christmas if they don't sell.

The sound quality is pretty good on them, so if you like that kind of music make you a cd of them and enjoy. That was why I bought mine years ago (also at an estate sale, I think they were pretty expensive when purchased through Readers Digest).

Unfortunately, records are not worth much. But then, there are those that will bring in over $100. I don't have any of those All of mine were bought for my own pleasure and now I am selling them off in groups of 10 to 12 per artist for $9.95 each. Most will sell after a couple of listings unless they are in bad condition.

Be sure and check the closed listings on Ebay to be sure you don't have a sleeper there. You just never know and a little work could pay off. I still list occassional ones individually but only if they are in near mint condition and I have searched listings to know it is worth my listing fees.

Reallywonderful: See if your local library has a copy of a record guide. The prices are way more than most will bring on Ebay, but it does tell which labels, etc. are from which dates.

I think there was a thread about LP's and I think there was a Garage band that was doing very well. Otherwise I have no idea. On the road show from Chicago someone had an original Beatles album they bought and kept it in pristine condition and the appraiser said it should sell for 10 - 15 thousand. I think that is a little steep but who knows now a days what sells and doesn't sell. I think the beatles recorded on the Apple label but there were counterfeits on another label that sold for a lot more. I did sell 4 albums at my mall space for $45.00 a piece. I was going to put them on eBay but the market was saturated at that time. I only paid $5.00 each for them but the likely they would sell on eBay was nill. I put them in my mall space where the market is small and they all sold.
