Right on the auction sheet it will say USD that means good old american money and they should know that. I have never had a Canadian buyer use anything but PayPal but someone will come along and tell you what kind of payment they can use besides PayPal as I understand some of their money orders won't be cashed at a US bank.

You might check where this buyer lives. Some of my Montreal/Quebec French buyers, understandably, have a lot of trouble with English.

i have deposited 2 canadian bank money orders issued by canadian bank SCOTTIA BANK??
to a bank in delaware ,USA.
I showed them to my banker and he said this bank is part of chase manhatten bank .so far they both cleared with no problem and no extra fee.
someone on this forum said that bank of america never charge a fee for any foreign bank us money order.
this is probably due to the fact they are all drawn on us bank, you figure banks have corresponding banking relationships with each other.if a us bank is issuing canadian money order,it will be drawn on say royal bank of canada where it keeps an account .

I just had an idiot Canadian bidder ask me to e-mail the shipping totals in Canadian figures.

I deleted the e-mail. If this idiot can't read that I only take US funds in US amounts, then I don't want their bid. Too much headache for a whiner Canadian.

your post shows some lack of intelligence on the part of the bidder...my c/paste below shows how easy it is for someone to ask someone to be dishonest...doesnt matter that he got my guitar "for a song."[[no pun intended]]...

c/paste...
Goodday Sir: I just bought and paid for your Yamaha guitar .... looks like a beauty !!! I live in Canada and even though we have the good old Free Trade Agreement between our two great countries there are a few people who still try to make a few bucks by taking advantage of Sept11/01 and the F T Agreement. UPS is one of those companies. They tack on their little surcharges that usually add up to about $50 - $90 to process the paperwork ...the same work that the Post Office does for free. If at all possible, I would sure appreciate a couple things; 1) us the good old US Post Service air(they are great) 2) also could you mark down a value under $100 so that I can just pay the postman and not have to use a Custom's broker.... Very Much Appreciated ....Bob" end c/paste

Must be a Canadian immigrant. At least I hope so, for his sake. Maybe an immigrant from another planet. Or West Virginia.

The first seller mentioned may be from Quebec or he may be a new immigrant.

The majority of my sales are to the US so that's where most of my problem bidders are from. Surprise! Many of my friends live in the US and that's where most of their problem buyers are from also. I go across the border to do the listings for one of my friends and their problem bidders are all from the US.

Do you see all of us pizzin' and moanin' each time someone doesn't understand the ins and outs of how things work? Do you see us coming to the boards with titles like "american bidder-well duhhhhhhhhhhh" and calling them idiots and morons? No, you don't. Have you ever gone to the UK boards to read what they say about the American bidders and how many don't understand or honor their terms?

My bidders from around the world do ask me to mark packages as gifts and I give them my standard answer that I'm a business and I'm unable to do so and I never have a problem but I certainly don't come here each time and bash their whole country just because they asked me that.

I often wonder what all bidders from all countries think when they read this forum. They are constantly being bashed by the sellers for being stupid and ignorant when the majority of them aren't.

If you're going to sell on the internet and in RL isn't it about time some of you learned a bit of tolerance and respect for others, no matter what their culture or intelligence is? If you're going to deal with people from all walks of life you should learn to accept that there will be problems and most can be easily overcome.

I've always thought that the best way for a bidder to prove that they are neither stupid nor ignorant is to follow the simple instructions in the auction they're bidding on.

If your point is that people from other countries are used to flouting rules and making outrageous requests in their own cultures, so we should accommodate them too, I'm afraid I cannot agree. Tolerance and respect is a two-way street.

I can't think of anything simpler or more straightforward than "U.S. bidders only". We try to make it even more obvious by repeating it in the text of the auction. But guess what another of my action items for today is: setting up a THIRD business checking account (yeesh!) at Bank of America to accommodate those of your countrymen who will not read, or if having read, do not comprehend, or having comprehended, decided to do it their own damn way anyway.

That wasn't my point at all. My point is that there are a few in every country that don't follow the rules and some of those reside in our very own countries but why start threads and bash the whole country for the actions of a few? Some are new or just slower learners about the way to do things and with others there is a language barrier so they take more time to deal with. The majority of transactions go very well on ebay.

I understand what you mean when they don't read "US bidders only" and I understand why you won't sell to them and you shouldn't have to if you don't wish to.

My international bidders of late completely disregard my terms about accepting AuctionPayments(BidPay) and almost everyone just goes ahead and pays with PayPal. Some don't communicate in English very well either but I don't come to the boards and rant and start a topic about them and name their country.

These boards tend to lump ALL people into categories. All powersellers are considered bad by many too because of the actions of just some of them.

That's what humans do, not just discussion boards. We have experiences and we draw conclusions from those experiences.

Are all Asians bad drivers? Probably not. But no one driving in Silicon Valley is surprised if they're cut off or run into by an Asian driver. No one knows why some Asians "just don't get it" when it comes to getting behind the wheel but ask any 12 people on the street and the majority will tell you of their experience. I used to take a Chinese friend out to lunch with me and he always marvelled how I could just pull into a parking place without hesitation or having to back up and try again.

Oho, now I've stepped in it. The shift key-disabled one is going to swoop in here and accuse me of being a bigot.

This reminds me of Polish jokes I heard, and laughed at, [and repeated] all my life ... and I'm Polish ...

MAYbe once in awhile the poor-speaking or non-speaking foreigner who bids on our u.s.-only auctions only see the 'paypal logo' and the photographs and then they bid ... THEN you try to communicate with them and jeesh! ...

Thanks, Tom. "Stumpies." That's a new one for me. I have a brother-in-law I can't stand, from Eastern Europe, who took a couple of years of forestry, then escaped to this country. He has nothing but disdain for ALL foresters, U.S. dept of, etc., saying he knows more in his little finger than "those guys" could ever learn. When he decided to prune trees on his cabin's lot, he actually LEFT stumps of limbs and branches, which is totally verboten among even us amateur pruners. He's arrogant and self-serving, hates America but made his millions here.

Sometimes I want to show him another finger and say "prune THIS."

These kids were extremely bright with fantastic futures, especially the VERY FEW who made it through the PULP & PAPER TECHNOLOGY course. They could basically wtite their own tickets.

Along with the LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS

FORRESTRY COLLEGE is VERY difficult to get through
