Yeah, I've still got the little hammer I made in metal shop in 1965. I think that was in the middle of the Iron Age. I just can't put the hammer down.

It was a joke, I think I first heard it when I lived in Oklahoma.. when the guys would be working on a car or farm equipment, and couldn't figure out what was wrong...... they would end up saying:
'Looks like your Bull gears wrapped around the Heifer shaft'

ALUM is a (??) chemical used in metal working, etc -- although I can't really remember much from my 1965 SHOP CLASS (yikes, what a geezer!)
I DO remember that if ya threw it into the smelting furnace, it created a great show of SMOKE&STINK (kinda like DUBYA!)
Also used in pickle-brine, I believe???

Actually, Mitutoyo is a good brand.
I don't think this one will fetch much since new micrometers can be had for around $90 with .0001 increments (more precise). Yours is only .001

Measures the diameter or girth of a metal part. Looks like this one is accurate to .001 or a thousandth of an inch. For delicate operations the standard is plus or minus 1/10,000 inch if dealing in standard which this seems calibrated to.
Therte are more accurate electronic models on the market now that are more precise.
Haven't used one in over 30 years.
