Vendio (ebay) has changed the way to look category numbers & I am at a loss to find them. I know the category that I want, it is Brewermanis, drinware, lidded steins, Germany, but I can't locate the number. This is really got me frustrated. Its too early for 2 Buck Chuk,, but I am tempted.

This has been one hell of a day. I has taken me all afternoon to list 8 items. Twice Vendios server went down & I li=ost the auction I was working on. Then I couldn't find the category # & still don't what the hell is going onI have a butter churn ready go except I find the category number for it. I can get the # for the main category, kitchenware, not the specfic for butter churns.

Okay, now Sanmar, take it easy!
Try this: Collectibles > Housewares & Kitchenware > Kitchenware > Butter Churns
Category number is 50786
Lucy
Edited to add the number.

Sanmar, sometimes they dont have an exact catagory but maybe its Vendio's updating with ebay thats not complete right yet. Used to be somewhere you could pull down all the catagories...maybe print out specific ones your use? But then again,...if people search using keywords and title -- it shouldn't really matter where it goes long as its close enough, right?

Is the stein empty or full? Be sure to test it and make sure it's in good working order before you list it.

Hi Sanmar
At the top of any ebay page click Browse
Scroll down and click See All Categories
Then it will bring you to a page where you choose Show Category Numbers
That's how I find it anyhow.

Hi Sanmar,
When you start to do an auction in Vendio, the first page that comes up is Choose Category. Mid-way down the page is Select eBay Category. There are pull-down fields for the selection.
If I'm confused on what category to use, I do an eBay search and pull up an auction that's similar to what I'm listing. That helps me find the main category, Collectibles or whatever.
Then you can click on the sub-categories.
I'm not sure what you mean by finding a number... I don't use a number, just the pull-down fields.
It ain't Alzheimer's - it's eBay.

Lucy...You forgot to mention that when the final sub category is selected, the category number will appear in the box on the page. About the only time you need the number is when you are listing in 2 categories. I select the first category, copy the number into the second box at the bottom of the page and then selec the second category and that number will populate the first box. Other than that, WebTV users are the only one's I know of who need the category number ti list.

Yeah, Sparkz, you're right... I didn't give him complete info.
Must be loss of memory. More likely too much Two-Buck-Chuck.
I do what you do when I'm double-listing - copy the first category number into the box, then go back up and find the other category I want to use.

You're welcome, Sanmar. I just learned that recently thanks to someone else here on the board.

Lucy, sparkz... I do the same thing when I list through Vendio.

I do exactly what Lucy does. I don't try to find the category numbers at all. I go at it differently.
And isn't it odd how we have to pull up the first category, put it into the box at bottom, then pull up the second category? Wouldn't you think there'd be an easier way to do it?

Roadsmith...Yeah, they could make it easier, but I guess it could be worse also. The WebTV users have to use numbers to list because they don't have compatible Java to use the pulldowns. Seems like they are always having problems with Ebay not keeping their list of category numbers up to date. Whenever they make a major (or minor) category change, it comes through the API at Vendio soon after, but it takes a long time for them to make the changes on their category number list over on their own site. An obsolete number is worse than no number at all.
Congratulations again on that red star. I got mine last month and I know how much hard work you had to do to get it.
