This auction was a fun one; I had no idea it'd go so high. Started it at $9.95 and crossed my fingers. Had some pound puppies tonight that didn't sell at all; it all balances out, doesn't it?!

Thanks, Lucy! Makes me smile.
And suddenly I'm remembering my first cooking with wine experience (don't ask me how these things pop into our heads). When we were first married, in 1959, I was gung-ho to be a great cook and had saved some recipes that called for wine. We didn't drink at that time (oh, how times have changed) and I knew nothing about wine.
Our local grocery store had a few kinds of wine and one nice cheap one that I would buy in a smaller bottle. GALLO RIPPLE! I cooked with that whenever a recipe called for red wine or white wine. Hubby loved my cooking. Sometimes I wonder if they still make that bilge--and if it would be a decent substitute for other wines. Too timid to try it, though.

Redd Fox's favorite cocktail was Coke and Ripple. He called the concotion Cripple.

Gee, Sparkz. I guess we were in good company, then. That's funny!
Does Gallo still make Ripple?
I think winos were the main customers of that.
In Utah we "gentiles" had lots of Mormon jokes: one of them was: What is the BYU coed's favorite after-dinner wine? "WHEN are we gonna get MARRIED?"
