I was just reading another thread, and folks were discussing their various eBay ID's.

I've been on eBay for years, but I don't understand why one would want multiple ID's...

Can someone enlighten me to the reasons for, or advantages to, multiple ID's? Do they require seperate Credit Cards?

Thanks!

for buying,for selling,for mischief,for shill bidding.
some sellers use diff id for selling different kind of goods.
then they use another id for buying for resale.
you dont need diff credit cards to register multiple id.

some people don't want their family and friends to see that they have "eBayed" their gifts.....or they don't want them to know that they bought thong underwear, etc.....LOL

I have one for selling all NEW items.

I have one for selling all USED items.

I have a Half.com account that will soon be of no use. Half people are brutal with feedback, so I didn't want to destroy my regular eBay ID by selling on Half with the same one.

I also have two other eBay accounts that are there basically cause I wanted the user names. Once in awhile I'll launch something in one of them just to slowly grow the feedbacks.

It never hurts to have at least one spare account with excellent feedback just in case you wind up with an "eBay stalker" who is out to get you. It happens all the time!

I have an account I use to sell in the UK, I have an account I use when I sell in Australia. I have two accounts that I use in the US, one is a catagory dedicated account, one is a mishmash of various stuff account.

Some people use multiple account to experiment with different selling methods, some prefer to keep their purchase history seperate from their buying history.

There are numerous reasons that people have multiple accounts.

I have one account that I sell my own items on, and a second account that I use exclusively for consignment sales. It makes it a lot simpler for pic and description storage and for accounting purposes.

It takes me all my time to keep my one account straight. And as for all the differnet passwords for different sites, it gets so confusing. My motto is "keep things simple"

1) Because we can.

2) One takes PayPal, the others don't.

3) One buys, the others don't.

Okay - thanks - Years ago I had two, then it seems it became illegal to have such so eBay consolidated them for me, and I've only had one since.

I did like having two, so if I really wanted to sell some tacky/junky type items, they didn't reflect on my higher end items...

Are multiple ID's legal on eBay?

Are you saying, you can have multiple ID's with the same "real" name, address, etc., and on the same credit card??

Thanks again...

I have 4 of them. One I use for selling, and one is used for buying only. I haven't used number 3 in a long time, about 3 years. I have never used number 4.

I guess I have to say this again.

You can have as many eBay IDs as you want. The only requirement is that each have a different email address.

Thanks again to all! I think I'll set up another account, although at the moment I have absolutely no idea how or why I would use it, and I hate to divid my feedback, I might find a use for such in the future, so will go ahead and get one - appreciate all of your input!

I have 2 ID's and one is for anything - the other is for bidding and selling jewelry.
Good example is I bid with my best ID 1200 Positive FB's when I should have used my other 57 FB id.
The item wasn't listed correctly and now the seller isn't answering my emails. I want to leave her a big fat negative and would if I was using my other ID but worry about get a negative on my good seller's ID.
