Has anyone had a problem with selling prints.
I bought several Key Calenders with wonderful vintage Tim Cox's western prints on them. I removed the bottom of the calender did not change the print at all and placed them on Ebay. I was doing well after 2 days then Mrs Cox's emailed me and told me I was to remove the prints because they were Derivative works. It was my understanding that a derivative works is when you alter the print from the artist version. Anyone clear that up for me?
Anyway I the first time I had them on-line I had the prints laying on a frame not in it so I pulled them. I researched her complaint and felt I did nothing wrong. I placed them on again no frame under them and then all hell broke loose. She called me I felt so blessed to hear from the wife of an artist I use to love. She emailed everyone That bid on the prints with threats of court action and tried to make me look so bad. Then I find out she sells her husbands work on calenders but much smaller versions. She has a couple dealers on-line ebay that is. They emailed me crying about all they were trying to do is make money for there families and education. Now Mrs Cox's don't want to sell me prints because of the trouble your causing.
What am I Doing everyone ?????????????
Anyway I wanted everyone to beware and help me understand what happened.
DON'T BUY TIM COX WORKS THINKING YOU CAN SELL IT. THE COX Patrol will be watching you.
I think EBAY should halt giving your name and phone number out unless the person has bought or bid.
Signed
Loaded with Tim Cox's prints and no place to go.

It sounds like she cannot make you or ebay remove your items,so she is emailing your bidders, this is called auction interference and should be reported to ebay.

Inform her that you do not feel that you are in violation of any actual law and that any further attempts at interference on her part will be considered INterference with Commerce and that you take appropriate legal actions based on such. Let her know that her pevious action have been in violation of ebay regulations.
Then - relaunch your items as private auctions where the bidders name is hidden from view (if you feel the need to justify this to bidders simply include in your description that this action was taken due to previous auction interference from competitors.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

If this is an item you want to sell long term and expect to make a fair profit from, talk to your attorney and make sure you are not violating any copyright restrictions and can legally sell it. If so, then for sure, report her for auction interference and take any action necessary to stop her.
If you just have a few, don't intend to get any more, and don't see this as an important product line, then you'll have to decide whether it's worth talking to your attorney about, or whether it's worth taking the chance of a VERO problem with Mrs. Cox.
