Does anyone sell on Amazon as well as Ebay? My books sales are still down even after Ebay attempts to restore some of its previous features. Also, has anyone sold on Abebooks.com or other similar book sites devoted solely to books?

Amazon AUCTIONS are a complete waste of time.

Amazon MARKETPLACE however, is a "Must Use" venue if you sell books. There's getting to be an amazing amount of competition there, but that is the place to be for a bookseller, even moreso than eBay.

ABE is good *IF* you sell high end rare-ish books. If you are a run-of-the-mill paperback seller, it's probably not the place to be.

abe.com sellers are also listed on amzn marketplace, take a look.
(if you are abe seller, your books will show up on amzn).
amzn marketplace used to be a better place to sell books for individuals until amzn invited powell,er hamilton, strands, abe etc to sell on its site.
i have a bizarre situation-
i sold an out of print book for 42 dollars on marketplace, weeks later the buyer said he did not get it.
i traced the dc and it said it cannot be delivered and is coming back to me.
the buyer said there is nothing wrong with his brooklyn address but please ship it again to his manhattan work addr.
well,i shipped again usps priority with dc and the dc said it cannot find the address.
not only is the zipcode wrong but the address according to buyer is wrong(he gave me bad street addr and would never admit what the correct zipcode is ).
He is either smoking something funny and cant type numbers in zipcode and street addr or trying to scam,But so far he is not succeeding as the book just keep coming back to me??
whats up??

Abe is great but you must maintain a list inventory of 500 books to stay on their site- I think that is true of some ofthe other major book sites as well- EBAY used to be a good site-but I don't think thst the book buyers are looking there- I have seen some good buys go unsold there-I think that book buyers look at Abe for a valuation price an then maybe check EBAY- I think the problem with EBAY might be the "auction"- might be better to get a an evaluation from ABE and put it on EBAY as a "buy it now" item-under the least expensive comparable Abe price-

Thank you all for the info. I have to resolve this issue ASAP since I quit a full time job to do ebay full time after selling on EBay for more than 6 years under two different user IDs. Who would have thought that Ebay was trying to help the book sellers by screwing up our venue.

Write me at [email protected] if there's anything I can help. I like the fact that you don't use PayPal. I've been a full-time seller for almost four years now.

Thanks for asking this question. I've been wondering whether to switch to Amazon myself. I don't want to maintain an inventory of 500 books or more, so the other book sites are out of the question for me.

I have a vision of thousands of booksellers going through these same exercises trying to figure out what to do. I'm still fairly successful at selling books on ebay but it's getting harder and harder.

I have about 800 books, mostly old. A few of them, perhaps 5%, have ISBNs.

Most of the older books are nonfiction. MOst are not rare as such, but they bring in $10 - $40 or more, sometimes lots more. $120, $202, for example. However, I don't always know which one will be the week's winner; I guess that's the fun of Ebay for me, putting out the bait and seeing who bites.

I just checked the Amazon site- They do not make it easy to become a seller- How do the prospective buyers find the available used books? Is it only by specific search? EBAY does have the advantage of a buyer just scrolling down the lists and seeing something he would like to own and placing a bid- I think I will stick to EBAY for now . use the other sites to get a value and use EBAY's one price option instead of auction-

amzn is the place for books-shoppers use search(advance search) using author, title,ISBN,publisher, keywords to find books.
most sellers key in the isbn number of the book he wants to list and find the amzn desc and list it along with other sellers, books are listed as new, used, collectible etc.
how can it be difficult for seller??
