Take a L@@K,,,,,,vendio says we can tax on the ENTIRE amount! Shipping and handling and insurance? Plus the product? I thought it was ethical and legit,,,,,,ONLY on the Price of the PRODUCT......
$9.99 price
$4.02 handling
$5.09 postage
$19.01 total

Vendio is probably just reacting to state legislation. Indiana, for example, requires you to collect tax on the shipping costs not just product cost.

The Federal Government specifically prohibits any state from imposing any tax whatsoever on interstate commerce. If anyone taxes or regulates interstate shipping shipping, it'll be Uncle Sam. The constitution gives them a sole monopoly on that potential cash cow.

Hey, Jack, As much as we are taxed in CA, at least we don't have to pay tax on shipping & postage. What a bummer.

No tax on shipping costs in California. And if there was it would be a detriment to us as sellers. I think the 7.25% or whatever the percentage is steers Californians away from bidding as it now when we have a resell license.

I havn't looked at it yet because I don't use that portion of Vendio, but I would suspect it would be optional to allow those in states such as Indiana where INTRA state transportation is taxable, such as a shipment from a seller in Ft. Wayne going to a buyer in Terre Haute. California sellers would not have a use for it because intra-state shipments in this state are not subject to sales tax, and are in fact protected against sales tax being imposed. They are taxed in a different way by a different agency so the customer can't see it and complain about how outrageous it is. Bottom line, if you charge California sales tax on any transportation charges, it will only be a matter of time until someone will come knocking on your door, and you won't like what they have to say.
