I just attempted to get bidder info[just feedback info] on an auction that i am managing for someone...went to ebay basic search, plugged in bidder i.d. and this is what i got..
c/paste from ebay basic search page....
"NOT POSSIBLE"
"Privacy laws in some European countries do not allow us to pass on information involving bidders from those countries. If you want to find all auctions this user has bid on, please contact the user directly by email."

I have heard about it. Same as not allowing your auction to be accessed in certain countries because the content is outlawed.
IMHO, You should get a communique asking if you want to accept a bid, whenever foreign law becomes an issue. Otherwise the playing field is not level and others get undue advantage. Not that eBay has ever had a problem with that.

It's not just "outlawed" items that people in other countries cannot access. This browser is dominated by ebay.uk cookies and there have been things as benal as charm bracelets that I have not been able to view from it. It's annoying as hell and there does not seem to be a lot of rhyme or reason to it.
Also - how is you not knowing what I have purchased in the past giving me undue advantage in an auction? Personally - I don't thik it is anyones damn business what I have purchased and if there was one thing I would like to change about ebay it would be giving the buyer the option to make items that they have bid on or won private instead of only providing that option to sellers.

It would be nice if the seller were able to block specific countries from bidding. Even though I sell primarily in the U.S., on occasion I will open an auction up for international bidders. The privacy laws of some countries, Germany specifically, seem unreasonable enough to me to block that country. In addition, some items I would want to sell internationally are illegal in certain countries and it would be nice to be able to block bidders in those countries.
