Don't forget the time difference!

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Does that mean if you accept paypal, you can do ebay listings for free?

Don't worry you didn't miss anything. Most UK sellers ignored it since they can accept payment direct to their bank account for FREE so have no need to accept an unregulated e-money system like PP. If you open a Euro account in the UK you can likewise accept incoming payments from customers in the EU for FREE too...

As UK sellers can no longer surcharge to accept PP many are dropping PP as it offers them few benefits, but many potential cons like charge backs or reversals. NoChex and MoneyBookers are two UK based EU regulated e-money systems that don't permit charge backs.

Agit - I averagw about £2-3k in UK sales a month and I can count on one hand the number of times someone has asked me for my bank info. 90% are via PayPal, the other 10% are Visa, Mastercard. I don't accept checks anymore - I have a lovely collection of bad ones.

Australia is a whole nother matter though... I say in my descriptions I accept Visa, Mastercard, PayPal, Money Orders and even cash and damn if 75% of my winners don't email me asking for my bank info.

As a couple of our less gracious posters would put it... I sell "cheap mass produced crap from China" (and a couple other asian nations). I don't usually usually use those words in my descriptions

I sell only in wholesale quantities to people who generally are buying to sell in their shops or "car boot sales" (our flea markets). A few resell on ebay and they generally make a nice little profit, I just don't have the patience to do piece meal sales anymore.

As for the £ sign - hold down the Alt key and hit 3 and you are good to go.

fenix,

We're doing around £2,500/month in the UK and 97.5% of payments are direct credits into our UK bank account. Fast, easy, secure and free for customers and us. We accept Euro payments into a euro account at the same bank since IBAN payments are usually free from other EU countries.

We explain everything clearly to customers and our glowing feedback is testimony to our quick shipping and delivery even from the other side of the known world!

As for Australians wanting to do bank transfers - it's been the standard payment method in Aussie/NZ for as long as I can remember especially with the advent of EFTPOS there and in Europe, etc.
